Commuting from phoenix to cottonwood

I'm in Cornville, about the same drive to the valley as Cottonwood, minus the traffic of Cottonwood and the headache of 260. That road is scheduled for re-do shortly. As it is it's one of the most dangerous roads in the state and you'd have to use it. An hour is extremely optimistic. A neighbor commutes from Cornville to C. Phx, but she does it on a weekly basis, staying in the valley for work. She says it's a good hour and 45 going the speed limit.
From Scottsdale I'd give myself at least 2 hours and figure it'd take longer getting home. That doesn't figure in the delays caused by accidents that close down one or the other side of 17 on a regular basis.
