They know. They are just pandering to the base to keep gett8ng reelected. Until the progressives, both liberal and conservative, dems and repubs, become the majority of voters we will liklely see more of the same. Btw I am a moderate Democrat but many of my Republican friends agree with this view. Granted we are fairly young it pretty much cuts across party lines. Improve quality of life to attract better jobs and industry.

Denver has plenty of jobs. High paying ones. It also has the magic sauce; good schools, low crime areas and high quality of life. Florida doesn't have two of those and only the beach for last one.

Yes, and unfortunately those same things attract the low life, trashy people. Trailer park, after trailer park, after trailer park, after trailer park, after trailer park in Florida attest to it.

I'm still trying to understand what this place is. It seems geared for fantasy and wishful thinking. It's reality though isn't very pretty.

The broad brush of your statements is quite frankly ridiculous. There are in fact good schools in FL at every level and definitely low crime areas as well. On the whole FL's secondary school system ranks in the top on some surveys and in the middle on others.

Have you ever been to Denver? Have kids?

I have done both. Florida is a disaster from a quality perspective. It's great for retired folks though who can Gate themselves off from the local population which s seriously suffering these days.

Have kids and live in a safe area with nationally ranked schools. Just because you didn't find that in FL doesn't mean it is absent from the state

I dont see why anyone in their right mind would expect Florida to be another Silicon Valley, NY or
other places where high tech has settled in as the primary industry.

Out of 50 states only a few are shown as high tech meccas. On the other hand, none of those places offer the benefits of living that FL offers.

Not everyone is in the high tech fields. Not everyone wants to be in high tech fields. Not everyone needs to be in high tech fields, but if they are, then I would think that living in FL to ply their trade
would be ridiculous unless they want to work with the few companies that support it here which are in specific areas of the state.

It seems your postings concentrate on those in high tech fields only and disregard all other options. There is more in life than high tech. Also, living in areas where incomes are very high results in a higher cost of living. Higher taxes, higher housing costs, higher everything thus a reduced quality of life. If someone is trained in the high tech field there are much better choices for them to be successful elsewhere and FL should not even be on their radar screens.

Their success in a high tech mecca would also be dependent upon their experience in that field and the competition for the available positions is going to be high as all the high tech experts would be migrating to the same place to compete for the jobs that may be available. Since the industry chooses to employ only those with the best skills, I would think that there are going to be a lot of people working in other fields besides those that they expected by being in one of those high tech meccas.

I dont recall FL ever being touted as a place with an abundance of high tech jobs though bio-science seems to be taking a foothold here.

Basically, if you're banking on FL to become one of the high tech meccas, you're bound to go broke while waiting for it.
Since High Tech is a boon to the economy, a lot of emphasis is placed on these jobs. Stocks, STEM education and etc. is all big news and often equal high paying jobs aside from Florida where salaries are subpar.

I am just reporting what's been reported, there is no data listed on Fast Food jobs since Florida is probably in the top 10...

I moved from NC back to FL and I'm quite happy with my job, not a server or bartender. In fact, many of my family and friends in FL make pretty decent coin.
