It's going to happen at some point,I don't know if it will be 2100 or 2200 or when but I'll put my money on it.Look at Miami Beach and how much it floods during high tide.About a month ago when the moon, earth and sun lined up the water literally came in several feet flooding pretty much every street.

Scientists predict that the Sun will burn out in 5 BILLION years. Instant global freezing. And it will be really really dark. Are you worried?

Yes. I am going to spend the rest of my life miserable, being upset that somehow mankind must be to blame for this. I will refuse to enjoy or see the good in anything. I will repeat "man made global sun burn out" over and over, in hopes that I can convince people it is for real and will happen in ten years, but then I will keep changing the date when it does not happen....so Al Gore can make even more money.

The South Florida newspapers have run stories recently on Miami-Dade and Broward making a push to deal with rising seas. So I'd say much of the planning is being done on the local level.

You probably won't see a big push from the state as long as Rick Scott and the current Legislature are in office (and that's not a commentary on politics or whether I think this approach is right or wrong; it's simply a statement of fact and an attempt to answer the original poster's question).

Agreed...we really aren't planning enough even for the conservative estimates...especially considering that the time frame to plan and build major public works projects is measured in decades, not years.

Actually before the sun dies it becomes a red giant, eating Mercury and Venus and making our planet more like Mercury is now.

Were these predictions before or after the ice cap doubled in size over the past year?

In the meantime maybe you can start a campaign going for "sun burnout taxes", ought to add up to a pretty penny by the time it actually happens!
