The hilarious thing about the "information age" is that its turned a huge percentage of the population into headline readers that never ask questions about the source material because it happens to be something they want to agree with. It's all about the "gotcha" factor by slamming some kind of news item at the other side. Fact that its mostly garbage matters not.

Pretty sad actually.

The "maker/taker thing is not flawed", as evidenced by the first graph which shows states ranked by return on the dollar of their federal income tax dollars. The bottom 10 with fewest dollars in return (state population rank in parentheses) are:

1. Delaware (45)
2. Minnesota (21)
3. Illinois (5)
4. Nebraska (37)
5. Ohio (7)
6. Kansas (34)
7. New York (4)
8. Colorado (22)
9. Utah (33)
10. New Jersey (11)

Seven of the Top 10 are Blue states, while your hated state of California is #14...receiving a tad bit less than what they pay in and not exactly the hardship on the federal dole you make them out to be.

Lastly, Florida is the third most populated state and receives nearly 8 times what it pays in to federal revenues, which all by itself destroys the myth of more population/more income taking less from the federal government.

So Rick Scott, who promised more jobs, is actually cutting programs that would improve infrastructure, education and quality of life--all things people look for when choosing a place to live. Instead, he thinks his backroom wheeling and dealing will bring those jobs. I cannot believe people voted for this imbecile.

I would note that Delaware, being number one on the list of deficit states, indicates that the federal income tax revenues apparently used in the calculation encompass all forms of income tax, particularly corporate, rather than individual alone. With the high rate of corporations, particularly banks, chartered in Delaware due to favorable state regulation even with little or no physical presence there, the statistics are quite skewed.

Providing further evidence that the "good paying jobs are leaving Florida" which is the original premise of this thread. Yes, Florida has shown tremendous job growth since 2010, but the overwhelming high number of new "McJobs" aren't making up for the living wage jobs that have disappeared.
