As for the left lane- one time I started out intending to stay in the right lane . Got into the left lane to pass a slow vehicle. Cars were very close together so I couldn't get back into the right lane and then the cars in the left lane behind me passed me on the right . It was so crazy I almost missed my right turnoff. I ended up having to act like a jerk just to get back into the right lane. No one is more important than anyone else on the road, but very few realize that.
True enough.

I remember years ago being hit from behind by a guy in a pickup truck as I waited at a red light behind a line of cars. There was damage to the bumper and the rear door of the van I was driving, so I wanted his insurance information. Naturally he accused me of being at fault for his hitting me because "I stopped suddenly", and he wanted to give me $100 to cover the damage ( it would not have done so by any stretch) and be on his way because he said he was in a hurry.

As we waited for the public service folks to arrive ( in Miami they often send these folks to work accidents, especially on surface roads where the accidents are reported witn no injuries), I tried to pull off to the side of the road to get out of the way of traffic. But it was impossible to because immediately drivers behind me pulled off the road, driving on the side to get around me, and no one would stop and let me get off the road. Finally there was a pause in the steady stream of traffic pulling off the road to get around me, and I was able to pull over.

I've driven in Miami/FL traffic long enough that I'm not usually surprised at the rudeness, wrecklessness, or inconsideration on the part of way too many drivers there, but even so I was taken aback somewhat by the lack of consideration that would allow a disabled driver ( or one involved in an accident) to get out of the way of the traffic on the road. What really got to me, though, was the obscene name calling lobbed at me by some of those drivers as they pulled around me on the side of the road.

Since the guy who hit you was behind you, he probably told everyone it was your fault before they got to you, soooo .........................

Wow!! Seriously rude idiots!! Unreal! That should never happen but, of course, you can't control somebody else's actions.
So sorry that has to happen!

Mia culpa. I thought u meant passing on the right was illegal.

The easiest way to avoid a bad driver is "move on".

Fair enough

It's illegal to block traffic in the left lane, when you can reasonable operate in the right lane. The law leaves plenty of room for discretion with enforcement. But it's also very clear that if you have a faster vehicle approaching you in the left lane and you do not move over, you are a law breaker. I like the law. I wish it was enforced and some sort of public outreach like the Move Over law. Passing on the right being illegal would be awful. That's how it is in Denmark, I don't like it. But then again, people don't sit in the left lanes there.

It happens here too in Wisconsin and I'm sure any place you go but it should never happen. Who raises these people?
If any of the kids I raised acted like that I'm slap the crap out of them!
But, they won't because I raised them right

I have been to Florida probably about 16 times in the last 10 years. I haven't noticed too much stupidity but then again, I have not driven the roads everyday.

PROTIP: In florida, if you get in an accident you exchange gun fire instead of insurance information.
