Washington Post = Fake News They are scared of DeSantis, because he's a rising star, so they trash him to slow his momentum...S.O.P..

At one time, pre-covid, DeSantis had some of the highest approval ratings of all Governors. He dipped during the height of the C-19 panic, but now, he's slowly clawing back.

Just imagine a Florida with the other guy who ran against DeSantis as Governor Is he out of rehab yet?

Default "Even by Florida standards, Gov. Ron DeSantis is a covid-19 catastrophe"

<<Welcome to Florida — America’s sun-drenched State of Suspended Disbelief. From the pandemic’s infancy, DeSantis has conveniently, even diabolically, airbrushed covid-19 out of public life here. The result: 1.2 million total covid-19 cases, nearly 61,000 total hospitalizations and a new seven-day case-positivity rate of 9.7 percent — all rapidly rising toward crisis levels. Even Texas, which isn’t exactly a model of coronavirus caution, has a statewide mask mandate and lower cumulative infection rate than Florida.

The Republican governor’s response to the pandemic, in other words, has been a disaster — yet he shows no signs of changing course. Today, amid the state’s third surge, Floridians and tourists stand shoulder-to-shoulder in bars and restaurants and sashay into nightclubs and strip clubs. At the same time, DeSantis continues to shrug off statewide mask and distancing orders along with any real effort at contact tracing.>>

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...rida-covid-19/

Winter and indoor activities are arriving in Florida. The absence of mask wearing and social distancing may overwhelm many Florida medical systems. Perhaps vaccination will spare Florida from the worst consequences of DeSantis epidemic policies.

DeSantis apologists likely support his withholding from the public vital government reports. Why is he doing this?

<<Now DeSantis is refusing to release the weekly White House Coronavirus Task Force Reports on Florida, and news organizations are suing. Replete with dire warnings, the reports apparently contradict his cavalier way of doing business here....

As if all this weren’t enough, DeSantis has also barred local governments from implementing shutdowns or fining mask scofflaws, making it even harder to persuade Floridians to take anti-covid-19 precautions. Some cities are in open rebellion, setting the stage for a state-local showdown. Who said Republicans aren’t hot for centralizing power?>>

The Resistance has a great sense of humor. Has anybody seen any "My Governor Is An Idiot" face masks?

<<To be sure, not all Floridians are buying what DeSantis is selling. They are, however, buying the perfect protest prop: “My Governor Is An Idiot” face masks. According to a woman who sells them on Etsy, many Floridians are scooping up her inventory. Meanwhile, on Twitter, the governor has been dubbed “Duh-Santis,” an impressive distinction for a graduate of Yale and Harvard Law School. I guess it’s better than his other handle, “DeathSantis.”>>

I didn’t watch any this year, but apparently there were more “not voting for Trump this time” Republicans speaking at the DNC than actual leftists. He has not appointed many or any leftists to the cabinet so far, and even wants to put a Republican on one of the posts. He is a moderate through and through. Leftists complain that he is putting more effort into winning over the people who didn’t vote for him than enacting the agenda the people who DID vote for him want.

Exhibit A

“Joe Biden taps Bruce Reed as deputy chief of staff in blow to progressives”

Yes, their relationship goes back to the 1990s. “The Squad” strongly urged Biden not to work with him. Biden didn’t listen. You know, because he is not a socialist and is not beholden to the socialist-like or outright socialist members of his party.

Have you ever read the definition of "hate?"

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hate

Do you think it's inappropriate to loath leaders who have caused hundreds of thousands of deaths, needlessly compared to Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan (months passed with no domestic COVID-19 cases, let alone deaths), Korea, and even relative to the U.S., Canada??? These nations haven't suffered the economic consequences, health deficiencies inflicted on the hundreds of thousands of COVID-19 survivors, housing and food insecurities, educational deficiencies, etc., inflicted on Americans by YOUR POLITICIAL IDOLS.

Do you think doctors, nurses and other front line health workers shouldn't loath the politicians, and their enablers and followers, who obviously have no true empathy for the risk to their health and their families' health inflicted on them by bad policy?

Do you think Jews who survived concentration camps shouldn't hate the Nazis?

Contrary to your ridiculous statement, haters have immense credibility when their loathing is rational.

Of course, Trump/DeSantis voters likely believe the election was stolen, climate change and COVID-19 are a hoax, that Trump doesn't behave as if he was a Russian asset, that Trump cares about $2,000 stimulus checks when he said nothing for months and allowed his Treasury Secretary and his allegedly Congressional Republican allies to refuse to support higher stimulus check amounts as requested by the Democrats, and many more failures.

Trump/DeSantis supporters express hatred, even if veiled in ridiculous moralistic claims such as yours, based on deceit and "Big Lie" propaganda. They attack the messenger rather than argue the facts, which belie their positions. I hate such behavior.

At least 20,000 Florida COVID-19 deaths and mounting. Tens of thousands of more suffer from health deficiencies inflicted upon them needlessly. Praise DeSantis! NOT.

You can't be seriously comparing DeSantis to Hitler. One of the silliest things I have read on C-D.

And yet this still happens in states with heavier restrictions (many of those are doing WORSE than FL), because people seem to be having more private gatherings. Maybe selectively ruining livelihoods isn't the answer?

Doesn't take long for the libs to fall victim to Godwin's law.

Quirk's Exception: Intentional invocation of this so-called "Nazi Clause" is ineffectual
Spamer's (?) Corollary: As the probability of Godwin's Law being invoked approaches one the probability that 'Commie' will replace 'Nazi' also tend towards one.

How about how smoothly the vaccine rollout is going? Desantis has coordinated this with the precision of Sun Tsu. We'll all be vaccinated and the virus defeated within a few weeks at this rate. Well done, Governor, and thinks for caring about us so much. /s

Yep. They're currently offering vaccines to nursing home residents, healthcare workers, first line responders and have now opened it up to those over 65 and disabled, depending on availability, or so I understand it. My daughter, a nurse, got her first dose yesterday at work ( Moderna).

Goes a lot more smoothly with common sense at work instead of partisan politics or "woke" agendas.

Twitter says otherwise. Search “Florida vaccine.” Of course, Twitter is not a scientific poll.

I’m not sure how things are going state vs state though. It could be the same everywhere.
