I feel like with all the bums and try-hards in this state--- it seems like there is a disproportionate amount of trashiness in FL...u know...trailer parks, pick-up trucks "git-r-done" types, homesless, try-hard club people, shop-a-holics, shallow ppl who are generally uneducated, lack of good schools, ghetto mentality, etc..

what u all think?

Those are probably the people who came to Florida with no jobs or viable trades and not much money just to escape the northern winters. Yes Florida maybe paradise for some but for many its an economic dead end.

Yeah. No worse than the backwards parts of any other state, including places like oh, pa, mo, mi etc

I agree on both counts though will include much of it is homegrown as well, particularly in the central to northern parts of the state.

I dont think it is disproportionate at all. It is a very large state, large population. Seems what you call "trashiness" is to some people a way of life. What do you want? Everybody to be an executive wearing suits while working at their desk job?

If you find yourself surrounded by trailer parks, pick-up trucks "git-r-done" types, homesless, try-hard club people, shop-a-holics, shallow ppl who are generally uneducated, lack of good schools, ghetto mentality, then you may need to check out your world some more.

I would like to know what state of any size where you would not find your scenario.

Does it have trashiness? Oh yes.

Is it "disproportionate"? Nope.

No, I dont want everyone in an executive suit walking around lol. That's ridiculous.

However, I travel often for work...all over the US and cannot help but notice that FL does indeed have more uneducated, obese, slacker types. Where do the young professionals hang out in Florida? Where are the go-getters? The innovators? The entrepreneurs? The educated? Certainly not in fort lauderdale lol! Or Orlando, or Tampa...or Jacksonville...or even Miami.

When I visit DC and Boston and NYC--there's more of a cosmopolitan outlook on life with people. More worldly, more invigortaing. FL just seems so ho-hum. Low rates of bachelor's degrees, high unemployment, kinda of a crap jobn market, tons of sexual predators (definitely disproportionately higher in FL, lets be real here)...it's just disappointing I guess.
