I hate to say I told ya so...but...this is what happens when you have leaders in charge who latch on to one idea and can't take the time to fully think through the problem and how to solve it. This is why Ron DeSantis is a joke.

Backfired? Nope...5 of the top 7 deadliest States are still: NJ, NY, MA, RI, CT

The 3 highlighted States are tiny specs on the USA map, as compared to Florida, yet their Governors still failed miserably at saving residents' lives from covid, as compared to Florida's Ron DeSantis.

A States vaccine roll-out, is limited by the # of doses its allocated. That is not as good of a measure of covid competence as the deaths-per-millions residents over a 1+ year time frame.

These 5 deadliest States have massive taxes, yet couldn't save as many lives as DeSantis, who doesn't even have a state income tax to pull resources from.

If it was a fight, DeSantis KO'd all 5 of these States...all things considered...age of population, available financial resources per resident, geographical size, education levels of residents, & # of state employees per resident.

Largely due to covid results, DeSantis's approval rating is ranked 7th nationally at 58%, while deadly Connecticut's Governor Lamont is at 32% for instance. No wonder why people are flocking to Florida, and fleeing Connecticut:

The only complaints I've heard about the vaccine rollout in Florida is you might have a drive a ways to get it.
Floridians can get it at some Publix's, CVS's, WalMart's, & most County Health Departments, & other sites, such as mass drive-throughs.

Anyone critisizing Florida's Covid performance is likely jealous, because their State, failed.

There was some confusion as websites were rolled out and weren't fully functioning. Some eligible people were not able to log in, there were crashes, and other technology related snafus. BUT, Florida has the 24th lowest death rate in the country, despite having the highest percentage of residents over age 65.

So, we have the highest number of "at risk" people, but have below the median death rate.

That's called "shift the argument." The article is about vaccine rollout. Not deaths. But it's convenient to shift to deaths when an article criticizes precious Florida, which the OP's quoted text really didn't do anyway aside from the title. The absolutist remark in the last sentence isn't a great one, because all things can be subject to improvement no matter how "great" they are.

But anyway, there were bound to be hiccups regardless of strategy employed. The next step is to take what we've learned and save it in our memory banks for next time, which I hope is DECADES from now.

When a vaccine rollout backfires, death rates climb, which has not happened here in Florida. I am sorry you could not make that connection.

Floridians approve of their Governor's handling of covid, so much so, his approval ratings are much higher than most of the covid failed states...except Massachusetts, which is baffling to me. I suppose the Mass gov gets good marks for NOT sticking infected people into nursing homes, like some of his regional neighbors did.

Why does it bother some people that Florida did so well at handling covid? Why is that a bad thing? We had very little government obstructionism, better results, and less harm to our economy.

Why is that bad? Because others got it so wrong?

I think your Governor did great, unlike the Thug we have in NY.

You might be the only person willing to say that out in public. Thank-you!
