My local W/D is higher than Publix and not stepped in one in over 10 years.

I have offered tips to Publix employees, and have ALWAYS been told that they cannot, under any circumstances, accept them.

Your experience is a bit weird...

Publix Tipping Policy In 2021
The Publix tipping policy is that employees, including baggers, are not allowed to accept or ask for tips as of 2021. However, if someone tries more than three times to tip a worker or is upset at the refusal, the employee can accept the tip. Also, you can tip curbside pickup workers because they’re not Publix employees.

That is not corporate policy at Publix.

At Publix it’s always some competent English speaking person. I’m guessing that high labor cost is built in to the price of groceries.
What is a DD bagger?

Having a bagger is not a reason for higher prices than the Northeast. Every store here except for some warehouse stores have baggers. Stop and Shop is unionized and many cashiers make more than $15.00 per hour. The Publix I go to in Florida is more expensive than even Whole Foods is here for most items.

The Publix employees are also the owners of the company- company stock is not available on the open market but many Publix employees have become pretty well off by participating in employee stock purchase programs.
