As of 2021 (the most recent count): Manatee county average age is 49. Collier county is 51.5. Sarasota is 56.5. Charlotte is 59.7. Those are the ones you say are the oldest. MEANWHILE:

Citrus county: 56.8
Highlands: 53.7
Indian River: 54.2
Sumter: 68.1.

So out of the 4 you specified, only two qualify as the "oldest." Four other counties beat the other two, one by almost a decade.

Those are also hillbilly counties with low populations. Many of those folks have lived there for generations.

Come down to swfl during season and you will feel like you're in a nursing home. No knock on retired folks but it's nothing like tampa or Orlando or Jacksonville that's more vibrant.

Backpedal much? New goalposts? Right.

You stated that those other 4 counties were the oldest in the state.

Here's what you did NOT state:
That those were the four oldest among the counties you feel like including.
That those were the four oldest among counties with a population of X or greater.
That those were the four oldest among counties that were along the costs, only.
That those were the four oldest among counties that didn't have a lot of retired people.

"the oldest in the state" doesn't mean any of those things you did NOT state.

If you don't say what you mean, then you shouldn't be irritated that people respond to what you say, rather than what you mean.

On the other hand, I think you said what you meant, and you were simply incorrect, because you threw words on your post without so much as a quickie duck-duck-go search to make sure your nonsense had any basis in fact.

I think you prove the point of the thread: why are there so many crazy angry people in Florida:

Because a) they don't say what they mean, b) they don't mean what they say, c) they expect everyone to know what they mean, no matter whether they say it comprehensively or not and d) everyone disagrees with them because they're usually wrong.

Florida is the only state I am never planning on going back and giving them a penny. Sad thing is lots of Floridans are moving to my state and bringing their cancer with them.

I just can’t keep my distance from them no matter how hard I try.

Wow, lucky guess. But that is the first state Floridians are most likely to move to if they want to get out of FL.

Not this Floridian... it would be SC first, AL, then TN. Although I do have a hunting lease in GA.
