It may be on hand, but regular use of it can't hold a candle to ketchup. Sodium level and all that.

This! Even low-sodium soy sauce has a very high level of sodium in it. We use it very sparingly in my house.

Yup

Although, me personally - I rarely use either but soy sauce probably sees more action at my house than ketchup does. I use it as a cooking ingredient only - never as a condiment like some people do - so it's "apples and oranges" for me.

I have it, but like tootsie said, I use it in cooking also.

I use it as an ingredient for Asian dishes mainly, or as a sauce for tofu and sushi.

It is good, but like another poster said, even the light one has a huge amount of salt in it.

I think so. I'm from the south and I always have:

Ketchup
Mustard
Soy sauce
Worchestershire sauce (this can interchange with soy sauce IMO)
Tarter sauce
Hot sauce

I try to keep packets of mayo nowadays. No one in my home eats it but I keep it on hand for others. Btw, I don't keep anything except for the tater sauce in the fridge!

I can't stand ketchup! But soy sauce has many uses, as a marinade, in sauces, in soups, in stews, etc. I buy it by the jug.

I use it in such small quantities that the salt factor is negligible. Different story if you're sensitive to salt, but I'm not.

We always have soy sauce on hand, but the only person that uses it as a condiment is DS#2. I use it in several recipes.
We keep ketchup, but only use it occasionally, as well as mustard, and Miracle Whip.
The number one condiment in our house is salsa, Pace Picante Sauce to be exact. We are never without it.
