Why don't you want to drink it, though? Do you not like milk? What's the difference between milk and milk that cereal's been in? I just find it pretty weird. I guess I often don't drink all the soup when I have noodles in soup, but that's the first time I've heard of someone not drinking the milk of their cereal. I suppose you just throw it out, or give it to your cat if you have one?

When eating sweet cereals as kids drinking the sweetened milk was such a joy. Each cereal left a different flavour in the milk, whether simply sugar like frosties, crunchy nut cornflakes, the way fruit-loops would make the milk all rainbow coloured, and of course cocoa pops or cocoa puffs which would turn the milk into chocolate milk. I remember an ad for Cocoa pops that ran a few years ago where they made the fact your milk turned into a 'chocolate milkshake, only crunchy' one of the selling points.

One of the reasons why I never drank milk straight in a glass, and still don't, is because I had enough of it in cereal or flavoured milk. Why would I want to drink plain milk? Well if I don't have a sweet cereal I basically am drinking plain milk anyway.

^^^ I think that some of the ... customs are cultural thing...
Like never finish your plate, because others would think that you were hungry...

Now, what's wrong with the milk in a bowl? The cereal was eaten with the spoon, no? So, why not spoon out the rest of the milk??

Why spoon it out? That would take forever. I just drink straight from the bowl. Or is that considered bad etiquette? Doesn't matter anyway because I'm always alone at home when I eat my cereal.

^^^ Sure... I was just saying: drink it up or spoon it out. No reason to dump that left over milk...

I never lick my plate but I do drink the leftover milk from my cereal bowl right from the bowl. Only at home though.

Have NEVER licked a plate. Doesn't your face and hair get all messy? Doesn't whatever is on the plate slide off into your lap or down the front of your shirt??
Our dog always gets to lick the plates, unless it's something too messy and we don't want her ears hanging in it. But we don't let her when other people are over. Some DO find it gross, as evidenced by these posts.
I don't eat cereal, but my husband always leaves his leftover cereal milk in his bowl, and then of course gives it to the dog!

I am bumping up an old thread. I just licked my plate clean in the privacy of my apt. I had gluten free pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup. Yummy. I only lick my plate when I am by myself in my own space. One time I did it in front of a guest I had for dinner. Other than that single time I have never done it and I would not do it again in front of other people or my family or at a restaurant. Just a big no no.

Charlie.

At home especially if it's something like the juices from a ribeye steak mixed with bits of baked potato. I paid a lot of money for good steak, I'm not wasting anything.
