OMG, two of my sons went to SERE school. I can't wait to ask what they ate.

I didn't like green pea soup as a child. There was something about the bones in the soup that grossed me out, plus I didn't like the flavor. I also didn't like that particular grandmother's culinary "skills" or rather lack of them.
If there were bones in your pea soup, your grandmother WAS a bad cook!!!

I know that seems very odd but unlike many countries around the world, In America there is often a ham hock in pea soup.

Has to be Oysters. I will try anything as you know, but that time in France when I tried Oysters, it was a painfully bad experience.

I understand having the ham hock in there while cooking the soup, but either gramma put the ENTIRE bone in her/his bowl, there's something else going on. Normally you take the hock out before serving, correct?

Grape Nuts. My grandmother had a box of it when I was a kid, and I tried some. I like grapes and I like nuts, right? This stuff tasted like dried boogers.

Black licorice.

Pickled herring and sour cream.

Snails. I've heard people talk about escargot, and I saw a can of snails at the supermarket. In all fairness, I may have done something incorrectly, but the things tasted like dirt.

A few years ago, I tried some canned okra.

It was pretty disgusting- even after I heated it up in the microwave.
