So much for my plan. Should have checked for the needed mushroom soup when I was casing for the chocolate. I'm making spaghetti instead. Plan B's are a must at my house.
You're not alone---I use those "plan-B's" all the time!

Spaghetti is always my plan B. We're having a stir-fry tonight about which I'm kind of excited. It's my favorite way to get vegetables in and after a weekend of some partying that included Buffalo wings, well, I need those veggies.
Highlandsgal, I know first hand how disappointing that losing the job can be. I am with Cyn, it probably a decision between you and another person. The right one will come along for you.

Well, I had the leftover stuff. It was good, except for the beef. Naturally, I left it in too long and it got as tender as shoe leather. I like my beef rare. Anybody have any suggestions on re-heating leftover rare beef so it's not like eating my loafers? Thanks.
Oh HighlandsGal, I do understand. That is a bummer. Don't know why they would get your hopes up like that. Maybe it was close between you and another person? There is a great job just waiting for you. Chin up! There is a reason you didn't get this job. You just wait and see....maybe a better job coming soon!
Angeli, thanks for the great recipe. I copied and pasted it in my recipe file--YUMMY!!

The only way I have found is by reheating it in gravy. I just slice up the roast and cover it with gravy and reheat it in the microwave for a short time---just enough to get it hot. I have the same problem as you when I try to warm it up in the oven--overdone and like leather!

Thanks, that's my preferred method, but I was trying to stay away from gravy tonight. DH has a nasty habit of cutting up too much meat. I prefer to keep the roast whole - keeps it more juicy and when you reheat a whole one (which I wouldn't have done tonight anyhow), it stays more tender and doesn't get as well done.

You could try and copy the technique of a steam oven, which they use in pro kitchens. You'd have to slice the beef first, but slice it thick.
Take a heavy pan/skillet and a little water (less than 1/4 cup) - get the pan hot, get the water boiling, put in the slices and put on a tight fitting lid. Turn off the heat immediately, and in about one minute it will be hot enough but still juicy.
They tell us we need to reheat to high temps to kill off bacteria, but if you do that it will cook right thu, no more rare-ness

Great, southdown. I'll try that, thanks!
I hear you about the bacteria. It's a wonder we all survived to adulthood, isn't it?
