You guys are "cooking" and all sounds great.

Subs were good and leftover sausage will be made in pasta gravy tomorrow.

The meatloaf was quite good. I only had about 1/2 the breadcrumbs I needed so, rebel that I am, I threw in some oatmeal. Didn't even notice a difference!

ylisa, I think I remember hearing that red pepper flakes increase in intensity with the length of time they are cooking. Anybody?

I don't know but the sauce really was hot. I only put in about 1 tbl. for a big pot of sauce and then of course all the cheese and noodles but it was still hot.

I googled some information about onion soups and after reading, put away the laptop and came up with this...

1/2 large white onion (I used a huge one!)
1 garlic clove
1 1/2 cups of broth
1 teaspoon of soy sauce
2 teaspoons vegan margarine
2 teaspoons of flour
2 tablespoons of oil
salt
pepper

Heat oil and margarine in a soup pot over medium heat. Chop onion and mince garlic. Add onion to pot, salt and pepper and let cook for 5 minutes. Add garlic and soy sauce. Turn heat WAY down and cover. Leave for 30 minutes, stirring when needed.

Add a bit of the soy sauce and stir, then sprinkle in flour and cook for a few minutes.

Add the rest of the broth. Heat.

This meal was enough for me, the soup and 3 biscuits - not to mention some wine .
If you are serving this as an appetizer or serving it with a salad, it may be fine for 2.

Mmm, this soup was creamy and comforting. It makes me want to type the word "homestyle". Just delicious.
I'm used to onion soup that is clear. Did the flour make a big difference? Did it thicken it up?

I think that flour gave it that "creamy" texture. I would not call it "thick" or a "stew" by any means, but I would not consider it "thin" either.

Evening everyone, boy have I had a busy day cooking today. My son is being confirmed tomorrow so I had to prepare everything ahead of time today. Let's see I made potato salad, cold veggie salad, baked beans, cole slaw and precooked some ribs (we will finish on grill tommorrow).

Tonight for dinner we had hot dogs on the grill with some coleslaw and potato chips. House is cleaned and ready for guests, my feet are killing me so I am going to go sit down with a big stiff drink.

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Ps. My pot roast came out wonderful last night. Kids enjoyed it so much they took it to school today as is no extra love to it.
