Default Another feast...

I was at Sea Life Park yesterday for a 1 year old baby luau. This custom is explained at this link: Customs and etiquette in Hawaii - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It was a beautiful day with breezy trade winds. That's Rabbit Island in the background.

My camera's flash didn't go off for this picture for some reason. We had traditional native Hawaiian food. Delicacies like Opihi, O'io and Pipikaula were brought in from the islands of Molokai and the Big Island. About 1 hundred and fifty people were there. Some of them even flew in from the outer islands and the mainland.

There were 4 different types of cakes, pineapple, vanilla, chocolate and coconut. There was a shave ice station with flavors like green tea, passion fruit, etc., etc.. A Hawaiian music band, hula dancing and an open bar.

It was great to see one of my best friends and her one year old grandson which the luau was for.

Waaaay too hot to cook here so I got some taco meat from the freezer and defrosted it. Didn't even heat it up, just wrapped it up cold on a few lettuce leaves, drizzled a couple tsp. buttermilk ranch (made from a packet, not bottled) over it and scarfed it up.

I made burgers with BBQ sauce, sweet onion, and mustard. Gardenburger for me, beef for my other half. I had jalapeños on mine, and it was very good.

We also had a crisp salad of baby spinach, romaine, shredded carrot, and sunflower seeds.
