If you had to choose a single country cuisine (with all its regional varieties) in order to be fed for the rest of your life, what would it be? why?

I would probably choose Japan. I love their cuisine and believe I could be happy with this choice. My first inclination was to say American....but being such a melting pot nation that probably isn't fair....since it incompasses all the major styles of cuisine.

Part of my choice process....has to do with my concern about weight gain. I would probably really like Italian the very best....but I would also be unable to maintain a reasonable weight.

HARD choice. And I disagree about the other thread. That one asks for three cuisines which isn't nearly as hard (or interesting) as having to pick just one.

I would say Italian for one reason: The cuisine allows you junky fattening food as well as healthy lighter fare more so than other cuisines which I think mostly lean to one or the other. Plus there's some good desserts. And Italian food has bacon in it.

I would be sad to give up sushi, tacos and burgers though.

I agree 1 is more difficult than 3. For example I love Japanese food, but when I was in Japan on holidays, after 4 or 5 days I was really missing coffee, bread, a regular salad...

To me it would either be Spanish or French, because of the regional variety and the fact that it is already close to what I normally eat.
