Yes, she was a very strange woman.

I used to have a big salad spinner that I used only once in five years. I sold it on ebay. Then some post I read somewhere (possibly here) got a bug up my butt about salad spinners so I bought a smaller one. Now the smaller one is sitting unused for years.

The one we bought years ago at Ikea is still only $3.99 and works just fine after all these years.

I found a salad spinner at the goodwill store, not even used. I brought it home, cleaned it well...and it works great!

That's how I got my OXO. Brand new, unused, at about 10% of retail price.

I have never heard of these before and I eat a lot of greens. I just wash them off in the sink and place them in my container for work. At home we make salads all the time and have never used them. I personally don't mind a little water on the leaves. Also I don't put any kind of dressing on my greens. Never liked anything other than a little Italian anyway. Maybe have to try a spinner out sometime.

There's a poster on c-d who insists that wet lettuce is better than dry. "Spices stick better" is the argument.

They're good for wet wool, too.

I use mine as intended and also to keep cut up fruit in the refrigerator. For example, I cut up 3 types of melons to be added to a fruit salad the next day. The salad spinner held the fruit pieces above the fruit's juice overnight. That way they weren't soggy when added to the salad.

I bought a small size salad spinner & am glad I did. Takes up less shelf space. Gets the job done.
