What do people use this for? Many times I have bought a can of tuna thinking it was packed in water, only to discover someone stuck the oily kind in its place. How do people eat that greasy stuff?

DELICIOUS........will not eat the water one......had it today, in fact. I put Mayonnaise, fresh clove garlic, about 5 of them cut up in small pieces, then a little black pepper, some Cumin seeds, Weber Roasted Garlic and Herb, and Weber Garlic Jalapeno Seasoning......had two sandwiches today, on Walmart's Wheat bread....

Forgot to tell you, the oil one tastes better, and I buy CHUNK TUNA, more tasty to me that the others.
Chicken of the Sea, Starkist, Bumble Bee, Wild Planet...even Wegmans has offered their house brand of yellowfin for years. Yellowfin tuna has been on the shelves alongside every other variety for as long as I can remember.
There's something for everyone, when it comes to tuna.

I don’t know about Wild Planet, but I never saw yellowfin tuna in the other brands, and I’ve been buying tuna for 48 years! And I pay attention to what I buy. Perhaps it was not available in St. Louis?
But I do agree that there is a greater variety of tuna than there used to be. And, don’t forget sardines and salmon! Sardines are heart healthy. I eat them with mustard on dry crackers. Whole Foods carries a good canned red salmon.
Sometimes I eat a pouch of Salmon in a salad for lunch. It isn’t great salmon, but over a salad it is perfectly palatable.
I hear good things about Trader Joe's all the time, and wish we had one nearby. Maybe someday...
I'm anxious to try Tonnino. It sounds very good, too.
I found Tonnino today at a military commissary, which reliably stocks a good amount of imports to keep those who've been stationed abroad with access to their favorites. It was extremely expensive, even at discounted commissary prices.
I remember, during pregnancy, chunk light was recommended over albacore, due to mercury levels being significantly higher in albacore. But overall, minimal tuna of any type consumed during pregnancy was the recommendation.

I hate it packed in water and much prefer packed in oil and always look for packed in olive oil.

I grew up in an Italian family and olive oil was the only oil my mother would buy. It was used for everything that needed oil from salads, to frying. We never had mayonnaise in the house. I don't think my mother even knew what mayonnaise was. Of course, olive oil used to be inexpensive back in the day. Now for me, everything tastes better with olive oil with tuna being no exception
