Yes much nicer with olive oil. But I do occasionally have a bit of mayo on it too.

I grew up with tuna in oil, as mentioned it's all there was. Then I switched to water because I always thought it was the thing to do. I never once considered that the oil tastes better so I'll have to try it again for the first time since Nixon was in office.

I prefer water but then I put so much mayo on it I think it doesn't matter what it is packed in.

Just an aside. Some 45-50 years ago my brother went on a field trip to a tuna cannery and never ate any canned tuna again.

Your post reminds me of when my Sister in Law had worked in a hot dog packing plant, and said 'After seeing them in liquid form, I will never eat them again.'

I love hot dogs so I think it is best I don't visit an Oscar Meyer plant.

My old boss told me that up to 20% of the meat in any can of tuna is mouse. I chose not to believe that.

ALWAYS buy in water kind, never oil. Nasty!

I have to disagree., but I would say to someone who has never had canned tuna, to try both. Just because you don`t like it, doesn't mean someone else won`t

Ours looks like one solid "tuna steak," which is how it's described on the label.

But thanks for sharing!
