I like to look at old school menus! The different soup and sandwich combos are interesting. I'd never think to have clam chowder and a tuna sandwich together.

I am sure that all of the food was produced in the school, produced by lunch ladies who really knew how to cook.

And then the Federal Government intervened and you get low nutritious food.

Love the stuff. Purchased 5# for $1 at a dollar store a few years ago. It is one of the best additions to macaroni and cheese that I have ever made. Also. it makes a wicked blue cheese dressing.

Default I’m an idiot.

An insulated bag with steaks and ground beef was left in my hot car all afternoon and all night. The meat is now chilling in the fridge. Does anyone think it might be salvageable? If I cook all the ground beef and freeze it, do you think it would be OK? If I cook the steaks tonight, do you think we’ll die?

Of course, they will need to pass the smell test first.

I wouldn't eat that if you paid me. You can't always detect illness-causing pathogens by smell. Freezing won't help.

The question is how insulated the bag was and what temperature the meat was at when it was discovered. If you read my other posts on this topic you will find that I am about the least food-safety-paranoid person around, but meat that was left in a hot car for 12+ hours and was warm when found would be crossing the line, no question. Or was it still really cold inside the bag?

The questions is....Would you enjoy eating something that you think, could make you sick? I know, I wouldn`t. Not worth it.
