We went to a cook out for the fourth today. I usually don't eat at these kind of things. So I came home starved and made a pot of angel hair with butter, salt and crushed red pepper.

Elnina, as usual, your photo is lovely. I have never in my life had mussels ... I will have to try them!

For me today, a cheeseburger with onion rings ... great for the 4th of July!

It wasn't quite traditional, though -- I decided I'd have either an onion bulky roll with the burger and no onion rings (probably would have just opened a can of corn ) OR have the onion rings but use 2 Mission Net Zero tomato-basil mini-tortillas as the cheeseburger bun. I hadn't had onion rings in quite a while and had a box of batter mix that I'd bought years ago to try, so I went with door number 2! (The batter was fine, but I like my own better!)

The cheeseburger was delicious (Sam's Club bacon & cheddar cheese, I think). Those mini-tortillas are great for burgers -- they are the right size!

Happy Independence Day to the Yanks here! And a belated happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends everywhere.

They can be chewy. Never fooled with them that much or clams or any of that stuff.
