I'm fond of going to oyster roasts in the winter, eating boiled shrimp cooked with their heads on, fresh caught wild catfish and bream fried in small crispy fillets in summer, and cow peas cooked with fresh okra, red rice, and yellow grits whenever I can. I love collard greens picked after the first frost, which make them taste sweeter, sweet potatoes cooked in their jackets till they caramelize and served only with butter. I'll cook and eat almost anything I catch except stingray and shark, which I've tried once and won't cook again. --Savannah
I think the biggest thing is seafood, at least the one I love the most here in Florida.
One of the things I really enjoy is Large shrimp, rolled in coconut then deep fried, you dip it in a mango chutney...really good eating.
Down in South Florida the rock Lobsters are popular and of course Cuban food as well, the Cuban food is really good, nice tender meats, black beans, plantaines.
I try to eat alot of white fish which is always easy to find here
Savannah sounds like great creative cuisine. fried oysters- great. last time I had those was over 10 years ago in Boston. Being landlocked you have trout, but excellent seafood is basically hard to find.
