Having lived in Asia for a while-- Jamaican. I've been able to find anything else, more or less.

And when I head back to the States, simple Asian dishes prepared the right way will be hard to find, or sold at a premium.

When ever we visit a new state of region we always try what food they are famous for or think they are anyway. I guess we have had about every kind imaginable. Of course while in NY the first thing I wanted was a pastrami sandwich.

We lived in California for a year, and the only thing I missed when we left was the really good Mexican food. Even the lunch wagon that came around every morning had the best food I have ever had. I have tried lots of Mexican restaurants in other places, and none compare.

I also miss the great cheese steak sandwiches and hoagies from Philly, and some Greek food I used to get in Pittsburgh. (Spinach Pies)

Tell us about it?

I'm in MN and travel to SD but haven't heard of it.

PS.

(I just googled. We've got it here but we call it "bull bites." Why chislic?)

I lived in Newport News for 4 years during college, and now am in Northern Virginia. The main thing I miss is Cookout, it's a super cheap and good burger chain that started in NC and is pretty common down there.
But the furthest north it goes is Richmond I think

Moved from California,

Mexican food...everywhere, the Sizzler restaurants, lots of small mom and pop good donut stores, California style beef dip pastrami sandwiches from mom and pop fast food places, food in larger sizes, abundant produce year-round, jack in the box, dip mix packets, they are harder to find in Michigan.

Things I like in Michigan

Mediterranean awesome food ... Everywhere, contrary to type more widespread health conscious offering than my previous location in California, coney island dogs are ...ok, yet I have the desire to replicate one at home, seems to be a bigger variety of baked goods which may or may not be a good thing lol.

I forgot another one. I miss this burrito place back in Florida. Omigosh their burritos were soooooo delicious. And their curry based habanero sauce, cilantro sour cream, jasmine rice etc. It was a fusion type place and I had one several times a week. Oh my gosh, now I want one. RIGHT NOW.
