Can anyone recommend any condo buildings/nice apartment complexes with rent around $900 a month? We are looking to be as far north as Boynton Beach or as far south at Fort Lauderdale. Would like something in the middle. We are relocating from NY and want to be able to pick an apartment before the move without seeing it first :/

You will get more apartment for your money the further north you look. Fort Lauderdale is very expensive and you won't find anything decent for $900. Anything inside of Broward County is at an inflated rate. Even Boca is slightly expensive. Delray and Boynton are considerably cheaper and you can get a newer apartment in those areas.

We are looking primarily in Boca/Delray... do you have any specific places you could recommend... we just want a clean/safe place with laundry and a pool/small gym!

(we're from new york...so everything down in florida seems cheaper to us... just found out we could probably transfer locations for jobs.. originally thought we'd have to live off savings until we could find work..so we wanted to be safe, but i've been able to find some decent looking places for around $900 a month... you can't get a studio here for that lol)

Yeah in Boca/Delray you can find places that much. Not in Fort Lauderdale. Also, be very very careful about picking an apartment without seeing it first. There are lots of nice looking pics online, but when you see them in person and not the model unit you might be in for a shock. For example, I'd be weary of anything going for $900 in Fort Lauderdale. Usually you get what you pay for. In Delray, $900 will get you more apartment for your money.

As far as specific places, check out a website called Rent.com. They list all of the rental complexes in the area. You can search by zip code. There are 100's of rental communities. You can use that website to narrow it down by price and amenities.

The only one I know of is Port Royale located in east Fort Lauderdale, but the prices are all above $1000. I don't know any specific ones further north.

Honestly, your best bet is to come here and see it first. I've lived all over the country the past five years (Kansas City, Chicago, and now Fort Lauderdale), and I've never rented a place sight unseen. I just would absolutely hate to see someplace online, and then move in and see that they had forgotten details that end up being very important to you in the long.

Another reason to come look in person is to get the one-off deals. I'm renting a condo on the border of Oakland Park and Wilton Manors from an owner who moved out-of-state. It's a 2/2 for 900 a month. Is it super trendy or close to downtown Fort Lauderdale? No. But the same apartment in Wilton Manors proper or closer to Las Olas would be a lot more. The reason I mention "one-off" deals is that this is primarily an owner complex, not an apartment complex with a leasing office, etc. I have a very easy landlord and am month-to-month on my lease because I'm not renting from a big complex like Port Royale.

So come, visit. You would regret it everyday if you signed a lease that looked good on the internet but ended up being awful.
