yo Munch, be nice. I wouldn't buy out there if I were you buddy! Sounds like a shoemaker built the house. What's the address, lets look up the permits pulled? if there were any! your interior flooding, sewer backing up is prolly due to the workers dumping crap, no pun intended, down the pipes while under construction. We saw that a lot even in the million dollar homes we were building in the nice area's. The subcontractors workers just don't care. Can you imagine the subs building those cheaper homes out there?

5. Walking to school IS A NIGHTMARE!! I've never seen such unprofessional and negligent operation of school bus pick up in all of my days!! When we first got the city, first day of school, we couldn't find the bus stop because it was freaking 6 in the morning and it was DARK AS NIGHT out. If it wasn't for our rental car, we wouldn't have seen kids walking ALONE to their bus stop in pitch blackness!! I had to endure this trauma for 2 semesters!! I never walked in such darkness in all my life! I was constantly frightened at what vicious animals could be lurking in the forest and kill me! If it wasn't for Jesus Christ protecting me from wild beasts, I probably would not be here to report this today!
6. Lee county. Lee County schools are THE WORST I'VE EVER BEEN TO!! Not only was Lehigh Senior High School the worst educational experience but it was extremely ghetto and low class! They set their students up for failure right from freshman year!! The point is not to get you to go on to prestigious universities, they set you up to go to Edison community college! Where you will remain for many years!!
7. The house. Back to MY HOUSE, all of sudden after 3 months, things started breaking in the house!! The laundry broke, the sink gutter broke down, the hose broke, the sewage system went insane and all this madness! This house was BRAND NEW with no chinese drywall! Built in 2007!! Every single time someone would take a shower in my bathroom, feces would erupt out of my mom's shower!! The toilet also broke down! Every single time someone takes a shower in my bathroom, the toilet fills up with water and floods!! These damages cost more than $1,000 to repair and it STILL is not fully repaired!!
8. The city is BARREN compared to Palm Beach County! When I first came I did not expect it to be like that! I had never lived in a place like this before! The first city you come to is Immokalee and it was a sight I will never forget!! BARREN BARREN BARREN roads is all you see! Land workers all around living in little old style wooden houses!
9. Summer. Summers in Lehigh Acres is the worse in all of Florida!! Don't come here for summer vacation! It is hot hot hot!! I was burning and sweating ALL SUMMER LONG!! We couldn't turn on the AC because the bill is more than $200 a month!! Poppycock!! So we never turned it on but left the windows open but it never helped because it was so humid and hot!!
10. The grass! It's super human! Grass in Lehigh Acres grows at an astronomical rate!! No amount of cutting will NEVER be enough to stop it! Not even for a freaking week!! We tried cutting this stupid grass even at level 1 of our lawnmower and it grew back instantly over the course of several days!! Who wants to cut grass in 100 degree heat?!! The water system in all houses in Lehigh makes the sewage from the house dump onto the grass so it grows like crazy!! And it stinks extremely bad as well!!
11. Crime. Crime in Lehigh Acres is out of control!! Robbers, gangsters, drug dealers, unruly teenagers, destroying homes and businesses over the most petty things! Crazy crimes happen because I really don't know why!! I heard about Lehigh BEFORE even coming here because I was watching the news one day while in Palm Beach County and there was some news of a crazy murder that happened here in Lehigh..Well I never expected to move there!! Lehigh is the highest crime city in Lee County! That just tells you!
12. The people are strange!! The people here I will admit are VERY diverse. They come from everywhere. But they are strange for some reason! I can't put my finger on why but they just are!! They act really distant and stuff! No sense of community!!
Well that's all I can think of for now but there's lots more I can tell you about Lehigh! It is a hell hold! We are FINALLY getting out of here after 7 months in this hick town! Onto to better things and blessings!! If you want to live a lower quality of life and have a car, come to Lehigh! But if you want to better your lives, your future, and your children, go elsewhere!! There's a load of better cities in Fort Myers/Lee County metro than Lehigh!! Well anyway though, take heed my word, you have been warned!!

I already commented on another thread-I wasn't uimpressed with the school open enrollment. I hope Lehigh high is better than how you put it out. My kids put that as their 1st choice----got Dunbar, went to their open house and I'll just put it as we didnt fit in....A few days ago there was an opening at Lehigh for my sr daughter she is extatic as am I. Ended up enrolling the other kids at Gateway rather than the schools they got drafted to go to. Am hoping for the best.
Was a lil amazed at how much a car costs to register here. base is 400 a piece times that by four and I'm thinking ouch.

Oh that? I over exaggerated. It's just compared to the last school I went to, Lehigh sucks. It's an incredibly boring school. It should be good for your kids as long as they are excelling in their academics, join after school sports, and make sure they apply to UNIVERSITIES AND NOT EDISON COMMUNITY COLLEGE. As long as they do that, they will quickly ascend above the rest. The ones who are at the bottom, Lehigh doesn't care about and will leave them there. Don't let them talk you into sending your kids to Gulf Coast University either.

Snakes!! So a few days ago, we were at the storage in Daytona Beach (where I was suppose to move to) and we had finished halfway through the storage, we lift up a matress and there is a little snake coiled up on the dresser!!!! We were so scared we had to call animal control!!!! The little thing was slithering around the boxes!! We knew it was the same one always slithering around the house periodically in Lehigh! We had no idea how it got in at the very day and time we were moving!! We knew it was a curse!! There's BARELY snakes in Lehigh when we were there. I asked everyone if they dealt with snakes. They only said one or two during the years they been in Lehigh. This one snake every month or so would show up and slither around the house like a nasty plague!! It creeps me out just thinking about the beast!! I swear on everything that snake was a curse straight from hell!!! That's why I prayed and rebuked it so many times!! If you still want to live in Lehigh Acres, please remember to close ALL YOUR DOORS when you are not using them!! I'm so glad we got out there and hopefully never see Lehigh ever again!!!
My Last Words
I just want to say for anyone that wants to move to Lehigh (I couldn't imagine why) or anyone that is already there, this is simply a record of MY experience living there as a single family for 7 months with no car and a house that was supposed to be a dream home but was a hell hold. YOUR story however and hundreds of other families in Lehigh could be completely different. You may love it. I know plenty of people that do. So all I'm saying is, take heed my word. You don't have to put your plans on hold. If you have car and have inspected your house thoroughly, things could be quite different for you then it was for me. But my verdict on the city is as is. I had a horrible experience. I was a person that tried to like the city as much as I could but as time went on, these things just tested my patience and integrity. And once I found out I was actually leaving, I couldn't deny my despise for the city any longer.

I sometimes just don't get these posts,do people really move to places and have no idea how things will be.I mean I'm down in Miami where at least the public transportation is at least somewhat doable, 95% of the people still drive but if you had to you can get by for a while taking the bus and metrorail.I couldn't even think about how public transportation would be in a place like Lehigh Acres.Also the summer without A/C is just silly,it's like 110 with the heat index out there.I remember our power going out for a few days when we had a hurricane a few years ago and I had to sleep outside as indoors was just not possible,even outside I don't think I got more than 3 hours.We're paying $300-$420 in the warmer months and we just look at it like a necessity,no way around it.Woods with animals,I mean come on it's not a major city.The grass growing fast is another thing that just makes me wonder if the OP really lived somewhere else in Florida,most Floridians know when you cut your grass in the summer it looks like it needs to get cut 4 days later.As far as crime I'm sure it's not good when houses that go for $200K in other places are selling for $50K obviously you'll have some shady characters all around you.When the prices started to drop we visited Lehigh Acres as well as Poinciana in Polk County,two of the places where houses were going very cheap,when we toured the areas we realized why they were going very cheap.
