Wow... seriously?
Yes. Seriously. Lehigh is a HELL HOLD. You've been warned.

I never thought I would end up in the boondocks of Florida. This was an enlightening experience. And one I will never have again.

The term, I believe, is hell HOLE. As how much is your opinion is shaped by the overall discontent and angst of being a teenager and missing friends in Palm Beach? Not to disparage your youth, but how many teenagers are truly happy wherever they live?

All you have to do is watch the news and read the newspaper to find out why you shouldn't be living in Lehigh.

I personally have yet to have met anyone who likes living in Lehigh. Those I know that do live there only live there because it's cheap and they could afford it.

everyone is different, and for thousands of people, Lehigh is paradise, probably dependent on where they came from last

although I can afford better just at the moment, if I was down on my luck, I could think of many worse places to live (anywhere north of Orlando?) - gosh, all that square feet and cheap insurance being so far inland!

I would however lock down my A/C, ensure I have wheels of some kind, breed Rotties, and acquire an interest in firearms and martial arts, install security cameras, and keep a camera handy for any wildlife that walks or slithers by.

There are nicer parts of Lehigh as well.

From what I hear Lehigh Acres is very rural for the most part. But many people like it.
They are resisting becoming incorporated, their biggest fear is that it will turn in to an other Socialist Republic of Cape Coral. So maybe it's not all bad, things are constantly changing everywhere.

Actually, I think he does live in Lehigh. Seriously.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that people in Lehigh think they are living in paradise. It's kind of like saying people that live in a housing project think they are living in paradise. In fact, there are housing projects in Florida and they are no paradise. And incidentally, one of the reasons for the high crime in Lehigh is because of the closing of the projects and the mass exodus to the area.

Maybe there were a lot of people that thought they were buying paradise. And at one time, about 6 years ago and more, people that enjoyed rural areas and didn't mind the haul to the beach thought they lived in paradise. It was perfect for some. In fact, I had a dear friend that lived there and loved it. She lived there for years.

But now it is a haven for the very poor or the very stuck.

I also had a co-worker that was once a major executive, a pillar of the community. He moved to Lehigh when it was nice. His wife died and he got Alzheimer's. When the nasty crowd moved in he fell victim to them. He died under mysterious circumstances. Very sad. But that could probably happen anywhere.

There are a lot better places to save a buck and be safe. Lehigh isn't one of them. In fact, north of Orlando is a great area. Saying that is worse than Lehigh is a highly-uninformed statement.

They are VERY nice areas. North of Orlando is affordable and has always been a nicer area, in my opinion. The Villages - I know you don't own property there, Frank - is a wildly popular area for retirees so there must be SOMETHING good about it. It's also held its value, selling when no other area was.
