Possibly, but not necessarily. District numbers are likely to have changed in some instances as populations changed.

More info. Bummer --- they are not releasing all the states at the same time. Georgia is not in the first five: DE, VA, KS, OR, CO.

Get Ready, Get Set . . .

Yeah, I read that. But it should only take a couple of weeks for them to release everything.

I had relatives in Colorado and Kansas, so I'll start with them tomorrow.
Thanks for the update!

You are welcome.

I wonder how they chose those states? DE seems logical for its small population, but why not RI then?

Did they have a lottery?

Looks like they chose a sampling that includes every region of the country, but not the most populous states.

The national Archives site can convert 1930 districts to 1940 districts.

The states I'm interested in aren't included in this first batch.

I am anxious to see if one particular great-grandfather of mine was counted. I know for a fact he was alive in 1940 but the last census he was in was for 1880 when he lived with his parents. The family stories have always been that he wanted by the law for a rather colorful young-adulthood and I'm beginning to believe it. He left a very thin paper trail and went by more than one name. If he was counted it was because some one else filled out the form and turned him in.

I found my enumeration district and tried to load the census, but it was not loading. Apparently they haven't released the 1940 census for my part of Missouri yet.

Not all states have been released yet.
