No, it was not. And even if it had been, who cares. How many times has Nancy Pelosi evoked "Nazi" when referring to conservatives? Are you honestly going to tell me that Missouri is the only state where residents use billboards to express their freedom of speech? Really?

Goes to show what others have already pointed out. You can run into idiots just about anywhere.

One can tell in many instances where one is from. I was once awakened while on train traveling in Holland. The guy who woke me up said in perfect english, "you missed the transfer to Amsterdam and arrived in Harlem." I was very appreciative of the help, but asked how he knew I was not Dutch and how he knew I was going to Amsterdam. He replied, "khacki pants, button down blue polo, black loafers and black belt. No one in Holland dresses that way and all the Americans are headed to Amsterdam, not Harlem." Funny guy, but correct.

And there are a plethora of them in DC, where you live, Sag, as well as other east coast cities. This is perhaps why those cities do not have the best reputations as being friendly, as most behave as you do.

Us ocean dwellers often refer to the vast fields, sparse cities and sprawling states of the mid-west and great plains, as to an obstacle in our way to Califronia or New York.

I now know why.

In Missouri, every billboard was a reference to owning a gun, Jesus Christ and/or Obama the Muslim-socialist-commie.

In Oklahoma, we were met with indifference and a slight air of "why are you here?"

In Texas, we were abhorred. We were looked on as if we had two heads, each more "liberal" than the other.

In general the people acted as if we were from another planet. We weren't welcomed.

In the northeast and the west coast, people generally don't make other people's affairs their own personal problems. God and Jesus are never part of a debate, our faith is in our good works and deeds, not our devotion to a religion or church. Northeasteners keep to themsevles and west coasters are happy-go-lucky.

But Middle America there seemed to be this highly insular attitude. That if it couldn't be boiled down to Christ, a gun and conservativism, it simply didn't matter to them. And if you weren't one of them, forget it.

I would have liked my person stereotypes to be broken down, but I feel even more resolved in my beliefs about middle america. Conservatives say that America is about it's heartland. I have to graciously disagree. How could people who have never left their countystate, put all their faith in an insular community, and are uneducated about the world around them represent the other 2/3 of us who simply don't follow those stereotypes.
With this type of blatant lying and attitude, I sure am glad you did not stay. I am not even sure So-Cal deserves you.

The guy who can't spell Haarlem refers to my town home. 7th & East Capitol-ish.

don't remember trying to spell that word. I'd love to buy you a cup of coffee. I have been a DC'er since 79.

Ah, the liberal obsession with spelling errors. It is a part of thier illness and is like a shiney lure to a bass. The liberal is infatuated with spelling errors, as

1. It reaffirms thier "superiority" (I have sectretaries check my spelling- they are cheap).

2. It shows thier inate ability to miss the big picture and get stuck in useless eddy currents.

This is probably why Obama is failing as well- an elitist who is unable to lead, as he is focused on meaningless details while the economy suffers.

LOL hawk, I just do it William Clark's way, where a man is said to be uneducated if he can't spell most any given words 15 different ways. The Lewis and Clark; Clark .

I even tawght myself to type in hick ayha! I tend to be milder with it here, since almost no one would understand a bloomin' thing if I did it ryht.
