Very nice pictures michigan. The colors are really lagging behind normal here in central New Hampshire because of the above average temperatures, but I'm planning another trip up to the northern part of the state tomorrow where things should be closer to peak.

made a 2nd trip, but this time a multi-nighter along Minnesota's North Shore this week and while the maples were a bit past peak, the yellows and golds were blazing away. Best foliage in ten years up here was the word. The peak for the maples went well over a week and were/are probably close to 2 weeks, slowly spreading out from the center of the Arrowhead. The weather has been in the 70's and higher in the day and upper 30's and 40's at night. One day of strong winds had a little affect but it hit early when the leaves were still building towards peak.

I will also be heading north this weekend. The weather in southern MI has actually been better for colors this year from what I hear, due to some drought conditions up north during the summer. So I'm not sure what to expect. Normally the scenery and colors up north are better for picture taking, but this might not be a normal year. I guess I will find out.

Some pics from northern lower Michigan over the weekend. I was lucky enough to catch it at peak color, or maybe even a little past peak in some places.

Michigan is such a beautiful state. It irritates me when people think that Detroit represents the whole state--and I'm not even from Michigan!

If you stuck to the coast you'd probably see some nice color, i.e. Portsmouth and maybe up to Portland via Ogunquit and Kennebunkport. Otherwise I would suggest looking for backroads in southern New England. Routes 169 / 14A / 49 in eastern Connecticut make for a very nice drive, and maybe you could swing over through Jamestown to Newport, RI. You don't really get the same effect of the hills and mountainsides covered with color, but these are still nice places to visit anytime of the year, with the added bonus of the foliage.
How about the Worcester hills? those will be good late October

True, the back roads in Worcester County should be nice. I'm not familiar enough with the region to recommend any specific scenic routes.

Don't have pictures, but the leaves are starting to change in Washington DC.
In about 2 weeks, this place will look like a crayola box
