It's a shorter drive from Quebec City to Tijuana, Baja California than it is from Quebec City to Vancouver, British Columbia.

Washington DC lost its original diamond shape in 1847 when voters of Alexandria elected to return to the state of Virginia. However, there does exist another diamond-shaped US town, albeit far smaller: Lewis, Vermont. The 2020 census reported a population of just 2 residents in Lewis.

Just learned that Snohomish County, WA (just Seattle's north suburbs -- largest city is Everett at 118,812)...

is larger than Multnomah County, OR (incl. the city of Portland). 840,079 vs. 795,083. This also means every county in Seattle's MSA is bigger than every county in Portland's MSA

Cool fact. I didn't realize that Seattle's MSA was only comprised of three counties.

It looks like the Denver MSA is the largest one where its largest county is still smaller than the Seattle MSA's smallest county.

Is it some sort of mistake? No! Look at any detailed U.S. map:
All of Nevada is west of California. And Louisiana is east of Florida.
You can actually drive from Mexico to Cuba…in only 2 hours.
It’s true! If you’re in Missouri, that is.

I will admit it’s odd seeing New Jersey in the same category as Idaho.

Question: Is it not possible to drive to Florida from Alaska? Of course, traversing part of Canada would be required.

In that case, one could drive all the way to Michigan, and then make the trip in only 7 states. (As well as multiple provinces, but, that’s a given.)
