Most favorite states:
ILLINOIS!!! The Land of Lincoln. At least Chicagoland.
California Baby! Been to SoCal now off to NorCal.
Noo Yawk: Upstate is beautiful. The city is too alien for this Texan. (Figuring out and taking the Commuter Train was strange by itself.)
Texas. So big. Now get me out of here! Are we out yet?

Least favorite:
Nevada--Gambling is the whole state. Can you smell the smoke in the Casino and see the prostitutes soliciting the sidewalk? Feel the heat while walking on the strip too.
Arizona--Too hot. I would not want to live in Phoenix after experiencing AZ on IH-40.
New Mexico--Too economically depressed.
Georgia--just Atlanta and that's it.

That's part of urban living IN GENERAL. I'm not saying you choose that, but it's kind of ludicrous to pin crime or traffic jams exclusively on Philadelphia.

I'm not. I think all big cities suck!

I don't REALLY dislike any states, but if I must choose, my least faves are probably Arkansas and Kentucky, and maybe Alabama (my mom was born there though). Although I haven't ever been to Alabama so I can't say... but I think it would be a state I like less.

Sometimes I don't like my home state (Missouri, obviously) that much. There are some good things about it, yeah, but there's stuff I wish was different. But I guess nowhere is perfect. Someday I'd like to visit another place for an extended time or try living there. Like a somewhat larger and safer city than St. Louis, preferably.

Missouri may be somewhat boring, but a lot of its landscape/scenery tends to be prettier and more hilly than some of its border states (ie, Illinois, Kansas, Okahoma, Iowa). In my state, at least most of the St. Louis region, people tend to be more polite than some places, like holding doors open for you. I've talked to people who've visited here from other places who were pleasantly surprised by that. Or maybe it's just a Midwest/Heartland thing.

New Mexico is 'economically depressed' ?? How can you be depressed when you never had anything to start! Michigan is 'depressed.'

Then, again...would you be happy anywhere, StuckinPA?

I live between Baltimore and Philadelphia and there are absolutely lovely parts of both cities. I am by no means a big city person, either, but I could live in either of these cities comfortably.

Sounds to me like you just prefer to be negative, in general. So far you have dismissed every suggestion that has been made. I cannot imagine being StuckinaMarriage where there was no opportunity to compromise. So you hate the city...move to the suburbs. Oh, wait...you probably hate them, too! Silly me!

Anyway...here are my choices.

Favorites -
VA, WV, PA
...beautiful geographically diverse states with nice people.

Least favorites -
NJ, OK, FL, NV
...due to climates, congestion, or boring topography

Well sounds like you're kinda picky yourself there. By the way the direct sarcasm is not needed. I think people get an idea of where I'd like to be...Some people.

Baltimore has been greatly cleaned up, gentrified, and it's ongoing.

They are building up the Outer Harbor now that was in planning since the Inner Harbor and there's lots around the Inner Harbor and Harbor Place, Little Italy, etc. Very colorful now!!

It's much nicer than it used to be in the main areas.

stuckinpa. I am curious how many states you actually been too, or even lived in? PA is very nice. You live in a ghetto in Philly (I remember you saying this before). You can't pin people who live in all the state of PA because you hate your neighborhood. You also remind me of somebody that can only see the negatives. Philly is a beautiful city. Old city is one of the most coolest urban areas in this country. I really think people are crabby to you because it is obvious of your attitude. If you were standing next to me bashing my state like you do here, I also would be crabby to you back. It has nothing to do with where you live.
