One thing I've noticed is how prideful Midwesterners (especially Minnesotans and Iowans) are of their roots, especially those who have since moved to places like Arizona, Texas, Florida, California and the like. They're particularly quick to point out the flaws of their adopted homes, but have almost nothing but good things to say about their native states (with the possible exception of the cold).
Yes, too much pride is bad...when it becomes -- as my good friend, Bass and Catfish said -- simple arrogance.
But? Being proud of your heritage and history and culture -- and not ashamed to say so -- is NOT arrogant pride. It is simply being proud of what you are and where you come from, and your roots....
Anyway, as a corollary question in reply to your own editorial comment about Texas? As in "pride for no reason?" Wellllll, what state is it being compared to? What particular items are you stacking it up against...?

It doesn't have to be compared. But it isn't the top state, which is California.
You would think Texas is number 1 in everything going off it's pride.
And the knocks on Cali from Texans on these forums just reek of insecurity.
Probably Texas. In no other state have I seen the state flag displayed at so many private homes and on people's clothing, and many businesses include the Texan flag in addition to the American flag, and basically everyone I've met from Texas has been very proud of it, while I've met people from California who really dislike it. Oh yes and many people move out of California, but very few Texans leave Texas, in fact many people are moving TO the Lone Star state.
Its funny that you don't see the confederate flag in Texas like in other southern states.I also get the vibe from people in Texas that they don't want to be associate with the south.
Well other southern states seem to have southern bride but not the case in Texas?

Yes, I can see that could happen, especially in metro areas. Often the first thing people do when they move here - even to a big city - is buy some cowboy boots, and a hat, and a truck! And that's OK.
Lol I don't have too. You Texans ignore the facts and reality. How does Texas stand on its more than California exactly? I want evidence. Not ego.
Whats got you all worked up? No one is even comparing TX to CA except for you
