Yeah, depends what part of PA you're from. If you're from NE PA(specifically Pike County) then you can be talking Tri-State by a few different standards. The first being where NY, NJ and PA meet at the Tri-State Rock along the Delaware River by Port Jervis and High Point. The second one is the NYC Tri-State area's news stations (weather specifically) now include Pike County, PA in their forecast and that's new as of the last ~5-7 years. It's most likely because of all the NJ/NY people who live/vacation there in the Poconos, etc. These are a few cases of where PA is included with NY/NJ in a Tri-state area. All that said, the original Tri-State is NY, NJ and CT.

It isn’t a vacation. It is just a small “city” with 2 colleges. Cooperstown, yes. Oneonta, nah.

Beacon, south of Poughkeepsie and across the Hudson River from Newburgh, is another small city that comes to mind as well.

Beacon's a really cool town and only about an hour 15 min from NYC. Definitely nicer than Poughkeepsie too.

Thanks all! I feel like the majority of the suggestions are for NY which probably makes sense based on what I'm looking for, HOWEVER, as I think on it I'm rather concerned about a covid.2 coming around and I feel like I'd rather be under PA law than NY or NJ in that case. And honestly regardless of covid I'd rather be living under PA laws. So I think I'm going to focus there, even though the towns probably don't have as much to offer, certainly not in the job department. But hey, hoping to be a remote worker soon anyway!

In this case, stick to Pike County, PA, probably your best bet with the Poconos, the Delaware Water Gap and you're still in one version of the Tri-State area
