Buffalo. It reached its potential then lost it like Rome did. It's time for Buffalo to regain its strength and become an American city that has reached it full potential.

A loss from being the 6th largest city in America, to losing over half its population in less than 50 years. A sad, long decline. But, things are improving quite a bit, and I can see that once Buffalo reaches its potential again in the future, it will be one heck of a place to live. Its area, region, proximity to major US cities, and being in the central trading corridor on the Great Lakes next to Canada, (while being on one of the world's largest fresh water resources), it's bound to see a break through some time.

Hope things are going well for you in never-broken NYC, it's much more than a thriving metropolis. What a place to be! No decline sighted in the near future there, that's for sure, and the potential there is near gone because of how high up it is now!

That's nice of you to say, but so many people here are losing their jobs. We're also losing lots and lots of funding in education (for the NYC Department of Ed). It's not even funny how much our school's budget has been cut (I'm a teacher), thanks partly to Bloomberg. We don't really have much money left for supplies. But it could be worse. A lot of areas in the country have to lay off teachers because of the budgets. Luckily we still have our jobs.

I feel the same about New Orleans.

I would also vote for New Orleans. If it can solve some of its crime/poverty problems - and barring another hurricane strike - it could be something like the American version of Marseille.

Atlantic City - Vegas on the ocean - what could be better? It's improved a lot over the years, but has a LOOONNNNNGGGG way to go.
