Eh.. need to move it to like 16 like france and italy... it is not a big deal there, and then you don't have all the go wild binge drinking, and peoples lives ruined from duis, etc.

Nanny state stuff is retarded... I was more mature at 15 than adults I meet and work with now that are 40... There is no magic age of maturity and the government is frankly illegitimate for forcing it.
Possibly you weren't raised like that, or aren't raising your kids like that... but many parents ARE RAISING THEIR KIDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE!
I am honestly scared of attitudes like yours that think the government is the solve all for everything. This, oddly enough is coming from many Republicans who claim to be so independent, then OBEY OBEY OBEY.

lets just have no legal drinking age, when I was a kid my parents would rub whiskey on my gums when my teeth were growing in and now I LOVE me some Evan Williams whiskey, f-it lets just all get drunk plus it will help the junior high boys get more action from the junior high girls.

and besides when I was 19 and at a party, a cop told me if I didnt tell him who bought us the alcohol he was gonna charge me with contributing to the delinquincy of a minor, EVENTHOUGH I WASNT OLD ENOUGH TO BUY IT MYSELF.

People can barely handle being able to drink at 21, let alone 18.

I'll know to stay off the road when that happens

The problem is drinking and driving -- we live in a car-based society -- Europeans don't.

Maybe this is becasue a lot of people in the US don't drink until they're 21, so obviously they're gonna get pissed because it's something new.

I've been drinking since I was 14/15 and I'm 18 now, and can handle my drink no problem. This whole drinking ruins everyones lives is a myth, theres nothing wrong with drink, just those who feel its nessecary to start a fight after they've been drinking. Like I said I've been drinking for 4 years now, and I've not once been in a fight. I've only had a hangover once, and that was the first time I drank, after that I knew better and only drank small amounts. I'm 18 now and can drink 8 or 9 pints and be fine in the morning, I would say that would not be the case for a 21 year old who is starting to drink.

Public transport in the EU is fairly infantile in comparrison to that of the United States. Where I live (Dublin city) there is one, yes one train line, to cater for millions of commuters. So pretty much everyone here has a car. This may be an exception for London, Paris and Berlin, but most Europeans do drive. And we have very strict laws on drink driving, you are only allowed one pint, and more than that, you can be arrested, and rightfully so, I think if there is any trace of alcohol in you, you shouldn't be driving.

Im an 18 year old guy and I do believe that they should keep it at 21. 18 is way to young IMO to start drinking, I know plenty of my friends who are 18 and still act 12. Bad bad idea.

I do believe though that once one reaches the age of 21, it should be mandatory that they go to a type of alcohol class were the instructors teach the dangers and effects alcohol can have on their bodies. Sure...everyone knows what happens when you get drunk, but I think going to this class can really show the ramifacations alcohol can have on the individual and people around them.

As far as joining the service it should stay at 18. Once someone graduates high school there are only a few select options; go to college, join the military, go straight into the workforce, or become a lazy bum. I myself joined the Army NG and think that once a young man or women does graduate high school then they should be able to make that choice for themselves.

Just my 2 cents for what its worth.
