I turned 18 2 months ago. IMO, I think the drinking age should be lowered to 18. You are legally an adult, so at this age if you committ a crime you do adult time. So If your saying I can go to war and shoot a gun, your going to charge me as an adult for crimes, your going to call me an adult, than I should have every right to drink alcohol as 21+ older people do. Yeah I understand that some people under the age of 21 can't handle their alcohol. Well, make the penalties for drinking and driving very harsh. How about one DUI and you lose your licence for life. Also I've seen middle aged adults who can't handle alcohol. Sh*t go to an AA meeting, you'll see what I mean.

I feel the same, granted I'm 20 and will be 21 in a few months, I am also in the military and feel that I should be able to have a beer with my friends before I get deployed.

Oh Im not in the military, I was just using that as an example of something I can do as an adult, but Im not allowed to drink. But I feel at least if they aren't going to change the drinking age for all 18-20 yos, they should at least allow young brave military men and women like you to have some alcohol.
I drank from 18 to 21, still do, but only a beer or two at a time, no liquor.
I was raised better than to get sloshed like a lot of my peers still do.
I can tell you one thing, the roads are safer in Germany where the drinking age is 18, yet scarcely enforced at times.
Drinking laws in Germany aren't that strict at all. The drinking age is 18 for distilled spirits -- its 16 for fermented drinks like wine and beer, or 14 with a guardian. And that only applies to drinking in public places. In private, there effectively is no drinking age.

I believe that there is a law that allows those in the military, if they are 18 but not yet 21, to drink legally.
I've always felt like people shouldn't be allowed to fight a war if they can't even take a drink yet. I stand by that. But i'm 21 now so what do I care? lol

I think that we should lower the age limit back to 18 as many other countries. Why wait 3 more years to join clubs, buy alcohol etc.?
Not going to happen, the US federal government made sure of that, the law is up to the state to decide how to regulate alcohol, and the US government wouldn't be giving states their budget worth for the Interstate Commerce Commission for roads and maintenance if they lowered the drinking age. So state's don't. Simple as that, lower the age = get taxed a HELL lot more.
**** that law. I'm 21 and have been drinking since I was 15, and started drinking hard liquor at 18, and I must say my tolerance is 33,000 feet high
