Milwaukee's really cool, but Duluth, MN was my first choice... Milwaukee has a significant edge on jobs. The Twin Cities are okay, but Milwaukee is more my speed I think. Plus, it's close to one of those big lakes.

Doesn't make a huge difference, in my opinion. And, people seem to forget: Minnesota has a considerable amount of shoreline on Lake Superior...

Milwaukee is no where near as cold as Minneapolis. Madison is one of the best Midwestern cities. So I would go with Wisconsin.

I'm moving to Madison, WI for a new position in a few weeks. I've been there a few times before and I much prefer the overall culture of the area compared to Kansas City. I'm a big fan of smaller metros with lots of amenities.

The largest concentration of freshwater lakes in one area is in Vilas County, WI. It really is quite amazing if you look on google maps.
