The world would be better off if there is no religion.
If people were just good people because they knew they should not because they feared what an invisible being that may or may not actually exist.
Really? What religion was Joseph Stalin? Since the death count under him was in the millions, I'm assuming he must have been religious, so which religion was it?
Pay attention to the percentage of Republicans....58%!
I do find that surprising, but let's also keep in mind that 41% of Democrats (according to that study) also believe that to be the case as well:
"While 58% of Republicans believe that God created humans in their present form within the last 10,000 years, 39% of independents and 41% of Democrats agree."
If you look at this study, you come to a very interesting section. Scroll down 60% to the bottom. The higher the degree of education, the more likely that creationism is rejected outright. This makes sense. Creationism is absurd, and to the degree that a person is rational and thoughtful, creationism becomes more and more marginalized.
The Internet will, over time, democratize this process. The smarter we get, the more likely we will conclude that Creationism is an untrue doctrine, i.e., one that does not reflect reality.
The same chart shows that acceptance of evolution (reality), goes up dramatically with education. The smarter you are, the more likely you are to accept the obvious - that evolution is a rational explanation for changes in life on Earth over time.
Once we thought the Earth was flat. And over time, that viewpoint was marginalized to the point where it became laughable. And that fate will befall Creationism over time. In fact, all irrational beliefs must one day fall to Reason. It is as inevitable as gravity.
Atheists don't like to admit it, but religion is the answer to all of the worlds problems; it helps to unite people, and change our morality for the better.

Religion does not change morality for the better and it many cases, it drives people apart rather than unite them. As we speak, religion is the cause for tension and violence in the middle east, in India/Pakistan, all over Africa (where christianity drives dictatorship like regimes to exterminate their own people,) even here in our own country.

1- Answer to all the worlds problems: So it will solve climate change, cure cancer and fight diseases, reveal new technology, show us how to feed the world's population, etc?
2 - Help unite people: Sure it does, small groups. Who then oppose other united groups and judge them. IE, my sect is true, yours isn't, you're going to hell, I'm not, etc. And wars..so many wars were/are based on religious ideology differences
3 - Changes morality for the better: - Stoning homosexuals, burning witches, beheading apostates, etc. Yep, religion sure does improve our morality.
