"Can America become less greedy?"
Where does a bear crap?
Some years ago the singer 50¢ recorded a song "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'".
That should be America's National Anthem - it reflects American values.
For many Americans those who are not greedy or even have the nerve to criticize greed must be anti-American commies.
Americans define themselves by their social status: type of car, home, boat, swimming pool, material possessions, etc.
In America it's not important how you made it, the only thing that matters is that you did make it. Even America's god encourages greed.
If America ever became less greedy a large number of Americans would suddenly find no reason to live.

Including most major league baseball fans. There is absolutely no other reason for their passion for the drugged up scumbags who pollute our national pastime while raking in millions -- often for NOT playing....

When the "mutual benefit" involves the transfer of enriched uranium and makes nuclear war more likely, it's evil. Regardless of how much one envies and hates America.

Are you kidding? MLB, Inc. is the worst offender. They've sold out to TV networks to schedule their games as prime time TV shows, and MLB just supplies the talent. If a network says "we will pay you X-million dollars if you black out every game except ours", MLB says "What time will the Brinks truck be here?" The only reason they needed a new Yankee Stadium was they didn't have enough $2,000 seats in the old one. MLB Commissioner Bud Selig is the only person in the world whose job could be done better by George W. Bush.

A common player, who spends 3 or 4 years in the minors, and then two years in the big league utility player playing a total of maybe 100 games will make less than one million dollars in his entire career. Which is the same as a WalMart greeter will make in a lifetime at that job.

Welcome to the real world. A world driven by the quest for, and making of profits - personal and corporate. You might as well bemoan gravity, or tilt at windmills - the choice is yours.

This is just the tip of the ice burg, corporations want to drive wages down to the poverty level for there shareholders and higher ups regardless if you are a degreed professional or not. Actually this goldman schaces thing is the norm only they were stupid about it and got caught.

Just pray to God that we can effectivly elect in new repreentitives that will put the screws to corporations and completely cut off outsourcing AND insourcing otherwise we are going to have rampent poverty and/or civil war. Get your rifles sighted in becuase its better to be killed in self defense than to freeze/starve to death in section 8 housing when your income is reduced to barely over minimum wage for professional jobs.

All that our forfathers built and invented is being outsourced by some scheeze MBA of a corporation to make an extra buck, they ought to be hung for high treason.

Default insult posed as a question.....cablg

"When did Goldman and Sachs begin to represent me? "

GS began to represent you in the government when the government began hiring all the GS former employees that surround Tim 'the tax cheat' Guitner in the treasury dept. GS is sooo tied in with the government. Former senator and gov of NJ was a GS employee.

"Can America become less greedy?"

Greed is one virtue that is culturally deplored. However, greed as a word has been shifted to mean, 'you are greedy because you make more than me'. Following this logic the microscope on greed would be forever focused on professional sports, especially the guys holding out because of the paltry multimillion dollar contracts they were offerred for hitting a baseball or kicking a soccer ball.

The original question posted would have been taken as an insut until the realization stikes that the question is based on an invalid assumption. So invalid that it hardly bears a response except to point out how absurd the question is.

A counter question might be, why is America so generous to other nations and why are American patriots are burried all over the globe. Tell the families of the men and women who died in the service of their country on foreign shores they are greedy. They are America too.

If we're so horrible why do we have an illegal immigration problem and why do legal immigrants want to come here? You know, if we stink so much why is everyone trying to get in? Maybe we can swap some of you for people who still see this place as a land of opportunity.

I'm waiting for SEIU to picket the homes of professional athletes, hollywood actors and music millionaires and tell them " progressives" including the President want their wealth redistributed. Let's see who ponies up first.

+1 Kracer, wished I'd said that.

We won't have a choice as in the coming years we will see a massive depression as our dollar becomes absolutely worthless, as of right now our national debt is 90% of our GDP, that is the first sign if impending doom. we have so much debt, we have no hope of ever paying it off. we love debt, we think it is normal, it will be our demise, as it is sick thinking.
