Some years ago the singer 50¢ recorded a song "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'".
That should be America's National Anthem - it reflects American values.
For many Americans those who are not greedy or even have the nerve to criticize greed must be anti-American commies.
Americans define themselves by their social status: type of car, home, boat, swimming pool, material possessions, etc.
In America it's not important how you made it, the only thing that matters is that you did make it. Even America's god encourages greed.
If America ever became less greedy a large number of Americans would suddenly find no reason to live.
The problem is, we've lost sight of the difference between appearing rich and actually being rich. We'd actually be better off if more people were actually trying to be rich, rather than appear rich. So much of our economic decline has come from people making short-sighted decisions, at all levels, to appear rich. We have the mountains of debt that have resulted from our need to keep up appearances, and appear to be richer than we actually are.

Can America become less greedy? I think we're at a point where we have to draw a distinction between the American people and Corporate America. The former can; not so sure about the latter.

I guess the answer to the question would be for each of us to ask our own selves if WE as individuals can become less greedy.....and then monitor our choices for a week. We would probably shame our own self.

Absolutely not... the biggest hypocrite are those that claim "not to be greedy" and at the same time want to take away someone else's wealth... ironic isn't it? That those who complain about greed are at the same time demanding to take away someone else's money... Can America become less greedy? Only if America can stop thinking about other people's money... which will NEVER happen...

I couldn't agree more, the largest welfare queens are those transnationals that bleed their workers on the job and then once more through their tax dollar contribution to the corporate bottom line using tax "adjustments", "geographical advantageous incentives" and other schemes emanating from corporate greed.

Greed has been around a long time, it's a human thing, not an American specialty, we can allow some greed but when it gets to the point we've just witnessed over the last two years it's gone too far, I'm not worried about the low mens greed, they lust for a big screen TV, but the guy from wall street has a big appetite and it won't be satisfied by any small potato greed, look out for those guys......

That is the picture the liberal main stream media in the US and around the world would like you to believe.

I suspect a truely greedy nation would not be instrumental in feeding, vaccinating, and installing clean drinking water systems to the people in 3rd world countries wourldwide would it?

I suspect a truely greedy nation would not compromise its own trade in order to encourage development and competition of trade goods in other countries would it?

I suspect a truely greedy nation would not be the first to offer rescue/recover aid worldwide in the face of widespread natural disasters regardless of its political relationship with the country whose people need aid would it?

Without capitalism the worldwide aid offered by the US (and its most productive corporations) and accepted by our political allies and enemies alike would not be possible would it?

You are wrong about the end Brazil's natural resources and should no be influenced by the media. We have the largest rainforest in the world; We have the largest reserve of potable water, our flora and fauna is (maybe) the most diverse of world.
However, the USA a long time, destroyed its forests, its animal life; its indians, its natural resources and now is "trying" destroy its coast line, with a huge oil spill, everything in name of the "God Profit".(Coffin has no drawers)
Is that worth it??
Thsi kind of reminds me of those blaming the addicts here for the drug dealers greed in so many countries. Its a argument that falls on deaf ears as to a excuse for greed of killing others.Brizil has one th9ing resources and liitle else as far as even the technology to drill for it.
