Before certain posters here mention the French/Italian rat study that proved the potential toxicity of genetically modified (GM) maize NK603 and of a herbicide containing glyphosate:

Long term toxicity of a Roundup herbicide and a Roundup-tolerant genetically modified maize

This is what the European Food Safety Authority had to say about it:

Quote:
The Authority’s final review reaffirmed its initial assessment that the authors’ conclusions cannot be regarded as scientifically sound because of inadequacies in the design, reporting and analysis of the study as outlined in the paper. Consequently, it is not possible to draw valid conclusions about the occurrence of tumours in the rats tested.

EFSA’s final statement considered the independent assessments of the paper by organisations of six EU Member States: Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. Full copies of these evaluations can be found in the annex of EFSA’s statement.
EFSA Press Release: Séralini et al. study conclusions not supported by data, says EU risk assessment community

Contamination: the presence of a minor and unwanted constituent (contaminant) in a material, in a physical body, in the natural environment, at a workplace, etc.

(proven danger or safety is not necessary - it simply has to be unwanted)

Thanks for your informative posts
I truly appreciate your detailed information Keep up the great work, so many people out there are unaware of the dangers.....

Cheers!

Default America LOVES GMOs

GMOs are so nutritious and tasty, why not just fill your bowl with ROUND UP and skip he contaminated food completely?

The rightful fear is, because of pollination processes, once you introduce a GMO crop of a given variety anywhere, the wind and insects will spread its genetic contamination to non GMO fields, and thereby ruin the entire industry for a region. In fact, Oregon farmers have tendered a multi-billion dollar class actionlawsuit against Monsanto, joining a long list of states doing so. Monsanto has experimented with GMO crops before they were approved in 16 states. They were supposedly all destroyed, but state after state is finding out the hard way, that Pandora’s box has been deliberately left open.

Ahem, parents of the children think it may be linked... not scientists, not health organizations not even other countries who don't like GM crops, just some desperate parents who want to blame something other than natures cruel fate in inflicting this terrible condition on them and their children...

Like I said in Post #548

just more URL's to phobic anti-GM rantings.
BOOYAH TO YA!!

~YAWN~ You bring up these lawsuits against Monsanto like they mean something how boring, anybody can bring a lawsuit against anything and anyone, doesn't mean squat....

That website, LMAO this shows their mentality:

Oh, and the burning of the sugar beets on private lands? Another act of terrorism by desperate environmental fanatics...

First, young sugar beets were pulled out of the ground during the night, yes... 1,500 in one location, 6,000 in another... but even the most generous estimation of their weight only totals 3 - 4 tons, not 40. Second, sugar beets and their green leafy tops are full of water, so they don't burn. Police reports indicate that some of the sugar beets were heaped up and gasoline poured over them and set afire. It burned out as soon as the gasoline was exhausted. Nevertheless, the value of the crop destroyed was sufficient to charge the criminals with felony destruction of property if they are apprehended.

Somebody (???) says they MAY contribute... ? Well, yes, and cellphones MAY contribute, and the broad change in breastfeeding habits MAY contribute, and the Chernobyl disaster MAY contribute, and the rise of certain strains of influenza MAY contribute, and the decline of teaching cursive handwriting MAY contribute, but it's the job of modern science to determine what's true and believable and actionable, in the face of unsupported emotion and raw supposition.

And that, unfortunately, is the state of pro-GMO vs anti-GMO debate today... science vs nonsense... facts vs emotion.

Default I can't make this up even when I am drinking

Scorpion poison added to cabbage? What does the Scorpion King think?

In the newer incarnation of scorpion poison genetic engineering, genes from the scorpion, Androctonus australus hector, for production of poison are being genetically engineered into cabbages. The goal is to produce them for public consumption. With the FDA's history of rubberstamp approvals for genetically modified crops, it seems unlikely that anything will interfere with their production and entry into a supermarket near you.

Default More not so true news?

Hungary has taken a stand against Monsanto and GMO corn by destroying around 1000 acres of GMO corn - said Hungary deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development - Lajos Bognar.

In Hungary genetically modified (GM) seeds are banned. There is no certainty that the GM crops they burned didn't spread any seeds or pollen before destroyed so checks will continue despite the law that states traders are supposed to make sure their products are GMO free! I know right?! During the investigation, they found Pioneer Monsanto products among the seeds planted. Once discovered they burned and wrote the years harvest off. They are that serious.

Most of the local farmers have complained since they discovered they were using GMO seeds. With the season already under way, it was too late to sow new seeds, so this years harvest was lost. The company that sold the seeds in Baranya county is now being liquided... so, if any compensation is paid, the money will be paid mainly to that company’s creditors, rather than the farmers

This was news breaking news back in May, ~yawn~

Hungary has been destroying GM corn crops for a few years now, maybe you should find anti-GM web sites that keep up with the times?

Here's an article from July 2011:
