Windmills aren't anything new. It is just the size they are to produce larger quantities of electricity. The windmill was very important in the development of the midwest for example. Nearly every farm had one before there was an electrical distribution system in place. That was how the farmers got their water pumped to the surface from their wells. There are still some in operation, although not nearly as many as there were. I have read someplace where some farmers re going back to that to reduce there electrical costs.
And just as there are legitimate organizations with web sites opposed to wind energy, there are also legitimate organizations with web sites supporting the development of wind energy.
I don't understand why the current windmills have such thin blades? I would think that a design based on the old Dutch windmills with wide blades would produce much more energy and need to be less tall. Anybody know anything about this?
Also I've heard that local towns/cities need to pass ordinances for individuals to place windmills on their property for home use. Is this happening? And what about the efficiency of those windpowered units used on sailboats. Can something like this be adapted for each house?

We all need to keep an open mind and examine all our alternatives.
I have been that site many times as well as others. They remind me of how Doctors used to advertise one brand of cigarettes over another. While some brands might have been better for you the long term outcome was the same.
And if you're concerned about the credibility of the sources, the US Dept of Energy is as credible of a source as you're going to get. Enjoy the reading! ;D
