US Dept of Energy isn't a credible source, most of the government agency are manipulated by politics
How do you think they're not credible... I suppose there's a nation wide conspircy of meter readers fudgeing production numbers from the thousands of powerplants through the country...........scheese. Oil and electricity and coal, natural gas everything is METERED. Math or the science can't lie no matter what. THis country uses X amount of energy it takes Y amount of BTU to produce that energy the numbers can't be fixed............... EIA - Electricity Data, Electric Power Capacity and Fuel Use, Electric Surveys and Analysis

All numbers can be fixed. Just ask any conspiracy theorist.
If we really wanted to be green we would generate all our base load electricity from nuclear power plants fueled by recycled weapons, recycled fuel rods and raw uranium recovered from the ash pits of coal and heavy oil fueled generating stations. Wind, solar, and hydro could be used as additional energy sources and the fluctuations in supply leveled out with pumped storage hydro plants. This, to me, is common sense.
BTW – I think the giant, medium size and small windmills are just neat. I would like to see a big one on the hill behind our family’s farm in Northern NH providing we got some or all of the electricity needed to run the house as part of the rent for the land.

The Audubon Society & PETA will probably include your family farm in their Class Action Law Suit.

Reason: spelling
The misconception that windmills cause massive bird deaths has been disproven in several studies. Older models that were inappropriately placed (in migratory paths, or too close to nesting areas and bodies of water) did cause a relatively large amount of bird deaths 20 years ago... but new designs and more analysis of appropriate placement have shown that bird deaths caused by windmills are lower than any of the following human activities: glass-sided buildings, automobiles, communication towers, pollution, pesticides, and pets.
Even the Audubon Society advocates properly sited wind power: Audubon's Position on Wind Power (http://www.audubon.org/campaign/windPowerQA.html - broken link)
The primary issue is proper placement, not that windmills are automatically bird killers.
