I prefer Greensboro. It's got a really nice atmosphere, great places to eat and a lot of places to check out. Like the nature center, bog garden, parks, etc.
I have a question about the two cities..which one would you consider safer? I am a single female looking at the area and would really like to know.
They are similar in crime rates, but I really question the crime statistics in Greensboro (I don't live in W-S) when 6 cops can show up to a traffic accident.
I used to live in High Point and if you called in an accident without injuries in might be 20 minutes before a cop shows up.
In general crime rates are similar. It varies from year to year. However in both cities there are safer areas of town. I would try to look to live in those areas. Otherwise its just a matter of which city you prefer to live in.
If you look up downtown renovation in the dictionary there is a picture of Greensboro but seriously, great project for downtown W-S. Very similar to the renovation project of the 9 story Southeastern Building in Greensboro.
The civic plaza park near the Pepper Building is a great idea because W-S is long over due for a major center-city park.
I also think either city can make the argument that its more developed.
I was specifically referring to downtown Winston-Salem with that statement, not the city as a whole. It's older with a more extensive urban fabric than downtown Greensboro; not sure how that can really be denied.
