The Marriott was built in the early 1980s. It was either the Sheraton or the Hilton back then. Can't remember which one. But it's been over three decades. Before that the last newly constructed "hotel" built downtown was the King Cotton in 1926. Not counting the motels like the Eagle Inn or Greensboro Inn.
Today is the biggest hotel boom downtown has ever seen.
Good to see Greensboro is getting 3 new hotels downtown to add to their 2. The Triad seems to be growing as Winston-Salem also has hotels coming to downtown (5 new ones to add to their already 6 making 11).

Wow. I know that the suburban locations of the city's major venues is a big reason for that, but still it's rather surprising.

are coming to downtown Winston-Salem.
Minus the Aloft in Winston-Salem and plus an Aloft in Greensboro. While the timeline is unclear, pending changes in Carroll's project, Aloft Greensboro is the only confirmed Aloft in the Triad.

A Raleigh based high end whiskey and cocktail bar called Dram and Draught is opening their second location in the southend of downtown Greensboro in an old gas station in August. It is near Boxcar, the Forge, etc. Seems like a pretty cool place.

Similar concept to Crafted The Art of Street Food near the ballpark.
Yes. I actually saw the signage today driving by there. Its on the corner of Gate City Blvd and South Eugene St part of Marty Kotis's entertainment complex.

Nice troll post...
Also, the number of hotels really isn't as good an indicator of downtown growth as hotel ROOMS is. Winston-Salem also isn't going to see their A-Loft anytime soon.
BTW, Greensboro actually has FOUR hotels coming to downtown... Hyatt Place, Westin, Hampton Inn and Suites, and A-Loft (though you could argue the A-Loft is debatable, but you could do the same for W-S's).

I don't think this is much like Crafted at all. Crafted has a lot of food options whereas this place pretty much sells peanuts and very little else in the way of food. In time, they will probably add a few small snacks... but it doesn't appear they even have a real kitchen.
This is essentially a place to drink. Nothing wrong with that and I'll try to check it out.

Exactly and when you look at the number of hotel rooms citywide, Greensboro has far more because there are more business travelers and convention business.

Similar concept in the building set up which has garage doors that open the restaurant up with bar stools/tables at the doors.
