This has been happening in different neighborhoods for some time now. They came in my neighborhood last year. The trick was they wanted me to sign a paper saying that if the insurance company said my roof needed replacing, they would get the job. I said no thanks! I called State Farm and asked them for recommendations. They sent someone out and I did have damage. I then hired my neighbor (licensed & bonded contractor) & he did the work for me. I paid my deductible and went on. The other company claimed they could do all of these extras and I would not have to pay my deductible. I just had to wonder if my roof started leaking a year from the time they put it on if I would be able to find them.

It was a odd storm, I have friends who live 3 miles from me who got hail last week and fortunately I did not.

This was my thinking also - I had a constant stream of traveling 'roof damage' people last year in my neighborhood. I ended up doing the same thing you did, except got a regional who has a good reputation. My neighbors bought into the 'no deductibles, and by the way we have enough money left over to do X, Y, and Z' pitch. Everything went well, except that after the job was over, they got a call saying that they owed $1300, blaming it on the salesman's misquote, and exactly the cost of X, Y, and Z extras! They raised holy heck, and so far the company hasn't pursued their collection.

We got our roof replaced after hail damage. Four Seasons Home Improvement did our roof and they were really great and changed a very fair price. You can find them on the BBB of call them at 329-5951.

I had my roof done at the end of last year following hail damage. I used Gilmore Construction & Roofing 864-591-3090 or 864-225-1332. They were professional, did an excellent job and cleaned up thoroughly each daywhich was important since I had dogs running around after they left - never had a nail issue. (I had a 24x30 building and a separate parking structure done as well.) I put no money up front and paid after the insurance checks arrived. I see that this forum is actually dated but thought I would add the recommendation as I was pleased with the work performed.

I was working in my yard and a truck stopped and a guy got out and gave me his business card. He said my roof looked like it had hail damage and that my insurance would cover it. They wanted to give me a free estimate. I told them I was busy so they just left their card. I thought on it and knew that lots of neighbors were getting new roofs.

To be honest I didn't remember any hail, but what did I have to lose to call my home owners insurance company? I did and they sent out someone to look at it.

They claimed I did have hail damage and told me to call a roofing company and they would pay for it. All I had to pay was the 500.00 deductible.

Well I found this roofing company, that my insurance company recommended as being good, and they offered to do my roof with a free upgrade and they would waive the deductible. They did a great job and I paid nothing. It all worked out. I would have never even called if that truck hadn't stopped by and mentioned a hail storm.
