I don't know that much about the club scene up here (can ask my ex-husband, tho!), but there is always a lot going on. There are a lot more festivals up here than I've seen in ATL. Nothing as huge as Music Midtown used to be, but pretty big. There's Fall for Greenville, Artisphere, the Greek Festival.... I know I'm not remembering anywhere close to all of them! Plus, Charlotte, and Asheville aren't very far at all.
I heard somewhere that Charlotte is about 20 years behind ATL, and Greenville is about 20 years behind Charlotte, as far as size goes. Most everyone I've met up here is really progressive (although I *do* homeschool my kids for non-religious reasons, so I tend to be on the 'fringes' anyway!). Greenville is a lot more 'nature-y' than ATL.
