Nice write-up on Greenville by someone who has obviously spent no time here.

For those who don't want to go through the link, here is the write-up in it's entirety (no copyright infringement worries here!):

Dining in Greenville ranges from local cuisine to popular national chains, according to the city's website. After downtown, the Haywood Road area has the most restaurant activity and generates the most retail sales in the city.

Yeppers. Haywood Road is where it's at! What!?

Now that all the rancor and angst has been removed, raise your hand IF:
[1] You read this" "It then selected the 25 areas with the greatest number of bars and restaurants???
[2] You noticed the website is a Real Estate .com and not a newspaper or a national magazine such as Time or Forbes or Newsweek.
[3] You noticed at the #1 location the population taken from the US Census Bureau was increased several thousand residents by the Home & Gardens real estate data bot?
[4] You noticed the population of Greenville does not seem to be terribly accurate.

I've never been to Greenville. I've seen beautiful pictures and I think it is an interesting city. I also think EVERYOE HAS AN OPINION and they are entitled to express it in any manner they see fit that is appropriate. If you disagree and want to debate that's fine, too. What is NOT fine is the personal attacks and name calling. The next one who starts it gets an infraction. And so does the guy who tries to hijack the thread.

I am going to say this one more time, the people who compile hot air to sell a product have never set foot in most the places they rattle on about - not in central Illinois, not in Francisville, LA, not in Winslow, AZ and not in the uplands. It isn't about facts; it's about generating real estate leads and selling a house..

You should come sometime.

Bottom line that all future readers must understand: The ranking was based on a zip code (29607), and the person who compiled the data was completely justified in saying the Haywood Road area "has the most restaurant activity and generates the most retail sales in the city", apart from downtown. The mall is located on Haywood Road, and there are approximately 25% more resturants within 1 mile of Haywood Mall than there are within 1 mile of Shops at Greenridge. The population data was also accurate, because that is the population for the zip code. (population)
