There is a lot more to it than that......besides, according to the Greenville Realtors, there re 1.3m people in Greenville, Charlotte is listed at 1.8, are you saying the realtors are wrong?
Show me a place where a Realtor says that. If they do then they are using old standards, which it could go back to one day. Then again, what does that have to do with this? The upstate isn't built like your beloved home. You should be comparing to ATL.

There are many places where I see that, 1.3m, listed. Anyway, I do agree that Charlotte is much larger, the 1.3m is total fiction. I don't agree with the OP that Greenville is a terrible place.
Folks do compare Charlotte and Atlanta even though Atlanta is 3x the size of Charlotte, about the same ratio between Charlotte and Greenville. The comparisons don't bother me, we can learn from Atlanta. Although I think some of our core demographics like income and growth are similar (Charlotte and Atlanta).

I don't understand those that waste time comparing Greenville with any other city. We live in a beautiful and growing area. I am not jealous of what any other city in America has to offer. Other's want what we have. That is why many from Charlotte and Atlanta visit. We have nothing to be ashamed of. We are Greenville, the best of the best.
Seriously, don't be a jerk. Someone else brought up Charlotte, I clarified a few points.
No, someone said the unemployment in Greenville is lower, which is true. It was unnecessary for you to "clarify" anything. Count me among the many who think that the Greenville area is a much nicer place to live than Charlotte.

Here is the context of why I clarified a point, the poster compared the unemployment rates with respect to folks wanting to move to other areas for work. The unemployment rate is one measure and does not take into accoount average wages, job composition, and foundation for sustained growth. That is what I clarified because looking at one economic measure can be misleading. It is true that Charlotte's rate is higher than normal on a linked annual basis, especially for Charlotte standards. But, to clarify your point, Charlotte gets 50k new residents annually (Greenville gets 7-8k), the city's rate continues to drop as new companies are moving high paying positions to the city, especially HQ functions. For the long term, there is absolutely no doubt that Charlotte is better positioned for long term growth than Greenville. Heck, Greenville is not even the fastest growing part of SC.
As for living, I have lived in both areas. Greenville is not a bad place to live. But, when compared with Charlotte, there is no contest. In any measure, Charlotte is more attractive.
The population of the city of Greenville is 61,674 and the county population is 451,225 according to the 2010 Census. Hardly comparable to Charlotte.
Which to me is a wonderful thing.
